what were the average wages in PDC / Lanzarote for bar staff etc , this was before the credit crunch really took hold of the world.

i was told that the decent paying places paid thier staff around 6-7e but you could get anything from 4-7e an hour depending on the boss or owner and whether you had a valid contract

now as we are in the middle of teh credit crunch - are these wages still the same??? , i fully understand there is less work etc but has the bars etc kept thier workers on the 6-7e average i was told about a year ago??

cheers for the info ppl

Look at the same or less if you are lucky enough to even get a job.
The resort is great but unfortunately not too many visitors, if there are they aren´t spending.
Good luck.

Been back to Lanzarote 6 times this year and noticed absolutely no change in numbers. Lots of people walking but not many in the bars and restaurants.

thanks for the replys guys......its good to see that the workers who still have a job are being paid the same , rather than bosses cutting thier pay.

i know some are on less hours due to the amount of trade but at least they aint being docked in euros per hour for that

my brother and his mrs has just returned from PDC , they stayed at the la florida apartments which are as ppl know self catering.

they said that the prices to eat and drink out were reasonable in most places , also they think that the bars , resturants etc have come into line with the recession and put thier prices down a wee bit.

when they went for a "fancy meal" they knew what they were paying for and didnt mind the price.

when they were in PDC they basically had nights out in the old and new towns and didnt really notice the difference in prices.

what they did mention was that in some bars etc the places were doing good trade but in some more "dearer" places the bar or resturants we near to empty.

the usual ruta 66 , tropical and american indian were quite busy but the centro atlantico places were dead.

this was the same when we were in PDC in october a few years ago

Are you sure about that Cy? maybe the people in business have a different opinion to yours on that one I'm afraid.

The Irish visitors are finding it good value but the Brits because of the STERLING aren't, however nearly every bar/restaurant has adjusted pricing.
Incidentally today the rate is only €1.04
