Now you can now walk on the pavements without being shoved and hassled I have spent more time at the Atlantico Centre end than I ever have before on this latest trip and I think it's great.

I admit the road is not great and is causing a lot of problems but for pedestrians it is fantastic and I would hope this has a knock on effect for the shops and bars on the main strip.

This time we spent a lot of time in the Rocas Blanca (?) outside bar/cafe.. what a great idea to turn what was effectively one big dog toilet into this fantastic place to sit in the sun and watch the world go by. Great beer and a decent price and free WiFi to keep the lad happy, what more could you want after a hard day on the beach :D

Is the Rocas Blanca a bar or apartments, and where abouts is it? Love the idea of sitting facing the sea and watching the world go by. Im going out there in April, not been for 2 years and used to go 2 or 3 times a year, so looking forward to checking out all the new places

Hello Lettie,
The Rocas Blancas are apartments right on the front of PDC, next to Centro Atlantico. We love the apartments and stay there all the time.
They have recently opened up their bar/cafe area to the public and have several tables and chairs outside, It looks great especially at sundown when the lights on the palms come on

Enjoy your holiday :D
Danny

Hello Helen, the Rocas Blancas are around 15 minute alk to the Rocas Blancas.
You are staying at the other end of the strip in the new town, heading out towards Matagorda, The strip is about 25/3 miles long then you reach the old town.....

You have bars and places to eat within a couple of minutes walk a few close by to try are Anticca de Trattoria and Friends bar,
For a good Quiz try the Owl and Pussycat, A bit further out is a chinese called the Great Wall, (opposite the Casino) excellent food and value for money, further still along the strip is an excellent Italian called La Dolce Vita. Worth keeping an eye out for a bar called Spenders. graet measures on the drinks and friendly banter, It's about 100yrds up the road just before you reach the Rocas Blancas.

There's a good selection of places to eat in the old town, (about a 30 minute walk (4/5€ in a cab) I can recommend Emma's Cantina, The English Rose Tea Rooms, and Bodecos,
Look out for a couple of bars there called The fishermans Inn and Chadwicks

Have a great time, I know that you'll love PDC

Danny :D

Hello Helen, I've never really had an issue with cockroaches in Lanza, seen a few but never in the apartments etc, maybe I've been lucky but I have stayed in the Rocas Blancas on my last 6 visits.

I am sure you will love PDC, all being well the weather will be nice for you too, just remember that there's a slight breeze so you don't feel the heat as much, so plenty of sun cream and water !
A really nice walk for you....from your hotel, if you turn left on the main road, you can walk along the beach (through the water if you like) to Matagorda (and round to the airport if you wanted to carry on) from the Rocas Negras to Matagorda, I'd say it's about 2 miles. When you come off the beach at the end, you'll be at some seafront bars etc follow the path round about another half a mile and you'll reach Matagorda.

Enjoy
Danny :D

The K's
Cardiac Hill is not a problem at all unless you have walking difficulties or are wearing heels for example, it's initially a very steep 100 metres or so but you'll manage it with no problem at in the day.

For nightlife, there's loads of choice, all the bars in Centro Atlantico, Tropical, Ruta 66, Tito's Kareoke palace and Redz2 are supposed to good too, but never been in,

Enjoy
Danny :D

I can confirm Danny is correct on both counts.

Cockroaches - think I've seen about 7 in the 9 times I've been to PDC/CT/PB (and they were usually dead). The resort is much cleaner that Las Americas & Los Christianos, therefore they haven't got as much to feed on like they have in Tenerife.

Cardiac Hill is a name probably made up by lazy people, I pushed a buggy up and down it at least 28 times in our recent fortnight there, even the wife walked up it some nights in high heals (I didn't have this problem as I never take mine abroad with me  )

Have a great time, PDC (for me) cannot be beaten for a fantastic holiday.

For a wild night, you want to start out in Tito's Karake Palace right at the bottom of cardiac hill!
This place is awesome and u get free shots if ur up for the craic!
After a few of them later on u will probs end up in the big square where there is Hypodrome, Big Apple etc all good if ur bladdered

Hi Danny, thanks for the info you have given me so far, will be there in 24 hours, cant wait and it looks like the weather should be ok.Was wondering if you could recommend a bar reasonably near to where we are staying where we can watch the Cup Final on Sunday. I know loads of places will be showing it but hoping to find one with big screen and Man Utd fan friendly! Thanks Helen :P

Hello Helen,
If I were you I would go to Friends and watch it in there.
The beer is around 1.50€ a pint and they do a great sunday lunch if you fancy one.

It's about 5 mins walk from your place, drop by on FRi/Sat and have a look, if you call in, say hello to Steve and Del from me

Also worth trying Spenders and saying hello to John (Overhere) if you get chance it's about a further 10 mins walk from where you are.
He also has the sport on, be warned his measures are not small :D

Have a great hol and enjoy yourselves
Danny :D
