Sorry forgot to mention a bar that we found on the seafront quite near to the Jameos Playa Hotel and Matagorda. The Anchor looks like a nice bar with alot of effort put in to it and when we went there we found the bloke that owns it is absoloutely superb, what a genuinely nice guy, who left the Uk with his family for a better life and loves every minute of it, he really really does deserve people to go in there and have a drink, something to eat, he is a top man.
Incidentally whilst I was dissapointed to miss out on having a drink at Spenders I was impressed with what I could see on the outside, others bars that looked really nice included the Galleon on the seafront and the Spanish Inn, in the old town the Irish Times is a lovely little Irish bar as is Paddy's Bar and next door to that is the Melting Pot which again is a good bar, the one thing I can honestly say is I was very impressed with the genuine friendliness of every bar owner I met, they were all great, if you are up near Balcon Del Mar the Purple Turtle and Crowded House are owned by good people too. I wished I'd had twice as much time and money as would have spent more in all of these places, they all deserve to do well. If you are eating out try Bodeca the Irish Polish restaurant, really nice homecooked healthy food, alot of the good restaurants are in the old town I think.

Can only agree with the comment about the anchor!
