This has been a long time coming but our holiday to Lanarote is nearly here, we fly out on the 10th Jan for 2 weeks.

Is there anything we should know, visit, eat, drink etc.

We will have a car so the island is our oyster. [:0]

Can't wait

Sue

Well depends on where you are staying, we normally stay in Costa Teguise which has a spread of bars and some very nice beaches (quite area). If you are looking for something a bit lively then you should head for Puerto del Carmen. I am sure that some of the xpats will enlighten you more on what is on offer. Anyway have a nice holiday, you will not be dissapointed!;)8);)

If you have a car with a spare seat ask cymmon along he's a good guide and he will show you the whole island in a day, only bad point is his shorts. He usually provides the transport but i'm sure he would do the guide thing for a reasonable rate and it would save you time and money.

Cesar Manriques House is worth a visit it is beautifull and if you stand in his livingroom and look out across the lava fields to the mountain you can see my house :D

Also the Green Caves ...Cueves de Verde (not sure if I spelt that properly) Famara and El Golfo for the fish restaurants also Orzola and the Mirador del Rio.

Have a super holiday

We are stating in Soo. It's quite rural we believe but that suits us as we want total relaxation after working all through Christmas and New Year.

After we've crashed out for a couple of days we plan to explore, hence the question.

I have stayed in Soo several times as I have friends that live there.
It is very rural and can be a bit "whiffy" if your downwind of the goat pens that are on the western edge of the village. However it is very peaceful and relaxing. There are some nice resturants in La Santa which is a five minute car drive away. Heading the other way out of the village towards Famara you have a spectacular beach with amazing cliffs as a backdrop. The village also has a number of resturants that do great fish dishes. Be careful if you go swimming as there are some strong undertows!!

I.m sure you will have a good time.:)
