Im posting this from PDC on my last day, we have had a great week, the weather out of this world for January but to my happiness it is great to see the resort and place looking so busy and full of life, everywhere is clean, the beaches bars and restaurants are busy to packed both night and day and all in all Lanzarote looks like an island recovering now from recession so ignore all the doom and gloom merchants on this forum talking the place down, yes it´s not perfect, the PR´S should be banned by the council, people can make their own minds up and dont need dragging in off the streets but having said that they are even pleasant enough. There are some really good places to eat and drink, nice beaches and walks to enjoy. On the back of a terrible Uk winter it seems alot of people have come to PDC on last minute bookings after xmas, it´s much busier than last year, if you want a holiday there is no where better, if you fancy working or living there there would be nothing to stop you either, yes it would not be easy but there is no doubt it has alot to offer the tourist and the resident. Well done to all the friendly bars and restaurants that have upped their game to offer great value and a friendly welcome, we have had a fantastic holiday and will be back again

Look what happens, you post something positive and you get no response hardly, people on this site seem to love the misery

Hi danair, I agree , see my recent post about car hire. As for the post regarding how good the island is, especially PDC,I would agree wholeheartedly. We have only been coming for a year and bought a bungalow in Matagorda last June, and we love it. What has been done to the public areas in PDC are fantastic and at night if you look down the strip from the Fariones,it looks brilliant. It can only get better.

I have posted some positive posts 'Why We Love Lanzarote' - but I know what you mean, people seem to enjoy moaning more than being positive! We have never stayed anywhere but Playa Blanca and have been there once or twice a year for the last 6 years. Last year in March and September things were definitely busier in the main resort, and the little row of shops and restaurants in Faro Park has new places opening and is also much busier than in the past. So yes, definitely less doom and gloom.

Actually, this forum isn't too bad. If you want bad vibes , try the www.gazettelive.com forum. That's usually full of posts from failing bar owners in CT or PDC, trying to run down PB! The www.canarynightlife.net forum is much more upbeat. You can't stop it, it's human nature. People enjoy a good moan. I bet the same happens on the RSPB or WI sites!

danair1973 i have to agree with you PDC has undergone many benefical changes recently. Asthetically the promenade looks well although we could do with a little less neon i feel. It's feasible to say imho it has become even quieter recently & while i don't wish to sound downbeat my friends who visit every January returned from the island last week, young @ heart (they're in their 70's) conveyed they've never experienced the resort as quiet. While i recognise we're in the midst of severe recessionary times, one must stay positive & focus on the here & now. I feel the resort of Lanza has embraced this idea & i look forward to our return to our villa very soon. As we always remind ourselves your holiday is what you make it!! Adios amigos
