I like to catch and eat stuff when on holiday.

We were in PB 18 months ago, and there were cockles in great abundance, but someone told us that there was a fine for catching the local shellfish.

Is this true ?

Dunno mate ... though I've been over nearly 30 times & I never caught crabs once ... lol

You only get a fine if you get caught or they can be bothered with the paperwork. :)

As far as I know, you need a license and there are strict controls on quantities.
