You're forgetting Scottish jokes, often some of the funniest

Just back too. Couldn't agree more with all Hugh Tube said. Very very quiet in the day, good for us, not so for the shops bars etc I guess. We had an absolutely great time, and only met one miserable person in two weeks.

Some of the restaurants in the strip were cheap, and I think you got what you paid for.

The ones near the port were more pricey, but much better quality (from our experiance only - we did not eat in every restaurant!).

Sad to see the one we used most last year shut down "for legal reasons"!!! Not sure what that means.

Up in Tias still very expensive for what you get, although the Tapas bars were good for lunches. Also there is now a wine museum up there! Spent a good hour or so and got our money out to pay, and they would not take it!

Worth a trip up to the volcanos, but go early to avoid the queues to get in. Wouldn't take too young children, as not too exciting for them. Mine were 8 and 10 and were bored by the coach trip but loved the fire and water show.

Back to reality now, rubbish weather, miserable people and now invaded by Climate Camp Protestors up the road! Roll on next summer and back to Lanzo.

Nice reply, but in a way I have to slightly disagree with kids + volcano´s.

I took a family round the Island on tour and the youngest girl had just done a school project on volcano´s. Because of what she had read at school she was so interested in everything. She had the background knowledge from school so the real life experience and views were totaly fantastic to her. I gave her a book highlighting the history of them.

Maybe some kids are different, but the majority (and I admit) but not all really enjoyed the experience.

It´s so good that you enjoyed the Island and will return, I hope to very soon after 5 flying visits this year.
Keep promoting the Island.

Further to your last one Cy, our kids really enjoyed the mini tour that you took us on. Sunday early was a good option and the little ones still have their bits of Olivine from Hervederos. The volcano tour was good and the Femes viewpoint breathtaking. El Golfo was cool aswell, and we look forward to the next trip and maybe a look at the top end of the Island. Sitting round a pool and popping to the beach is okay for some but going to Lanzarote without exploring... what`s that all about? Also getting to know some of the people on this forum by frequenting the hostelries mentioned can be quite nice aswell..crawl, crawl, even if I am known as a Yackem!!! Regards to you all from Keith, Di & tribe... :D

Come off it Cy!! Am sure the guy knows his own kids!!

I remember going when I was 8 - I loved the camel trip, they guy pouring the water into the volcano and the steam coming out - but I hated the coach trip as it made me feel car sick!

Did it again couple of years later and found it much more interesting.

Ditto Cesar Manriques house - unless you are an art student probably incredibly boring for under 16s but went again in my early 20s and thought it was the coolest James Bond villain house and art gallery had ever been to!
