Lanzarote in January 2011

We are thinking of coming over to Lanzarote for the first time for a week with the holiday beginning on New Year's Day.

I would like to check before making a booking whether

a) will car hire companies be open (I guess probably)

b) will restaurants, shops and supermarkets be open that week

We've never been away at this time of year apart from in the UK so I just want to make sure !

Including the time machine you'll need to come over in January 2011.

There were toddlers in the sea in Playa Blanca last Christmas morning - does that give you a warm feeling?

This was us, in our hire car on new years day, just after we landed and everywhere was open, Supermarkets, shops bars etc.

Thank you everyone, we have just booked our flights and accommodation - not sure how much the time machine weighs so may have a crippling excess baggage charge to contend with!

We brought the new year in at Playa Blanca beach this year and it was wonderful. Each day was 26 degrees and sunny and the evenings were pleasant, no need for a coat. Everything is open but it very busy
