Planning vacation from the middle of September/through the 1st week in October-my 1st trip. Have the following questions/concerns.

Primary interest are the volcanos(Mountains of Fire)

1- Lodging on or near the beach-clean-no community bathing, private
2- Dining is secondary - preference is freshly cooked meals-breakfast is my primary meal-fuel
3- Running(not far) and tennis are my primary interests

Concerns:

A- Attitudes toward Americans
B- I speak no spanish - will this pose a great problem-considering learning basics before departure-i am very lazy

Appears not many people from the US, visit the Canaries

Reading Nelles Guide to the Canary Islands-very informative.

Thank You,

Lane

No problems about you being from the states, and as for the language don't worry you will get by speaking English. If you could speak a few words they appreciate the effort.
Don't expect to get afst service they are s laid back the Canarians they are nearly horizontal.
I know in Spain they say manana I think the Canarians it's dosemanas-2 weeks.

Enjoy Lanzarote and spread the word in the states Lane

You could rent a villa with its own private pool. No language problem as most speak English and I am sure being American will not be a problem either.

The trip to Timanfya National park is well worth going on if you are interested in volcanoes. Most trips take in El Golfo with its huge crater.

Plenty of restaurants to choose from and well stocked grocery places if you want to cook your own food.

Hope you enjoy your trip

Hello Lane,
For your lodging, take a look to the new villas Oceano Azul and Atlántico Sur, with private swimming pool and just some steps to the best beach of Puerto del Carmen:

Also I´ve rented the "El Poril" apartment in Puerto del Carmen, just delicious:
