Hi,

Hoping someone can help? Im coming over on Sat for a long awaited holiday and as luck would be it Ive not been very well. My doctor has prescribed some codeine phosphate and when I was looking at the accompying notes it said that if I am planning to travel abroad I may need a doctors note explaining why I have been prescribed them. I spoke to my dr today and he has said that he thinks I will be fine to travel to Spain with them without a note but was wondering if anyone can shed any light? Would hate to be stopped by immigration!

Thanks in advance
Cheryl

I just googled codeine phosphate and spain, and it seems it is available over the counter here, so I wouldn't have thought it could be a problem (check yourself) In any case, the chances of anyone at the airport asking about tablets is vanishingly small.

They're fine, they're mild painkillers, as long as they're prescribed it's not an issue. I think because it's an opioid there are certain worldwide countries who have an issue with opioid's but not Spain. Over the counter painkillers like Solpadeine (which I take everywhere with me) are just branded Codeine with caffeine for a speedier affect, so your fine.

New to site but we take meds far stronger than yours (ie. CD items), just take your prescription stubs or copies with you. Nobody queried ours

My better half took 'morphine' due to recently having surgery and paid almost £20 for a Doctors letter just before Christmas.

It went in her hand luggage and was briefly looked at at MCR outgoing and Lanz returning. Customs didn't 'bat an eyelid' and neither asked to see the Doctors covering letter. The contents was displayed on the chemists bottle in large letters.
