Hi all,

We were just wondering if there is any problems with Mosquitoes in CT around May as we are travelling there with our children and wanted to know if we need to by any repellent before we leave?

Many Thanks
Ward family

We've been loads of times in May and not had a single bite between 4 of us aged 4- 38. Maybe the wind and cool nights are enough to keep those buggers elsewhere. It does get breezy in CT.

Mozzies exist here although usually not in large numbers (unless we have a lot of rain). So yes you could encounter the odd one. I guess it depends if you react to getting bitten.

Hi

Jason - that is so true about avon so soft. You are only the second person I've ever heard say that but I've been used it for about 15 years and its so true that it works as a repellent.

I've only been bitten once and that was in July.

Jayne.

I think it depends on the person - I get eaten where ever I am and whatever repellent I have used. There are def mossies in Lanza! Especially when the wind drops.

Generally keep doors and windows closed if you don't have netting up, cover up from dusk etc all the usual sensible things. Use the plug ins etc

we are quite lucky in costa as the constant breeze keeps all flying bighting things away ,generally! however the wind dropped the other night and i was bitten to buggery they leave my hubby alone tho? typical!
just before dusk close the curtains in the apartment and if its warm enough switch a couple of fans on,they dont tend to settle when there is constant air movement, and if possible dont use aircon, they seem to love it!unfortunately as foodie says if you are susceptible to them you will get bitten anyway! i usually have a good antihistamine cream handy ( cirtrizine is a good one) and use it as soon as you're bitten.
happy hols tho x
