Some of you will know I'm very interested in the history of the island's people, and wished there was more information available. We went to the agricultural museum in Tiagua today, and we both agreed that it is the best "attraction" in Lanzarote, and the only one where you feel like you are seeing Lanzarote before tourism - a rural delight. Essentially it is a 200 year old farm where about 20 people worked until around 1950. It has indoor museums, reconstructed interior scenes, superb gardens and arbours, three windmills, two camel powered mills, wine presses, a bodega, and goats and camels in a yard, and chickens, ducks and peacocks wandering about. Absolutely superb. If you are coming on holiday this Christmas, take the time to see it. €5 for visitors, €4 for residents. It really needs some more money spending on it so that more of the buildings can be brought into use, including the splendid main farmhouse, but it receives no money from the Cabildo. What a pity.

Yes, an excellent attraction.
Used to have wine tasting and a quick tapas involved in the entry fee.
Well worth looking into the history. A chapel in many farms including this one.

They still do the wine tasting. It's a huge and beautiful site, but clearly needs an injection of cash to open more of it up to the public, and to provide more info. The Cabildo tourism people ought to put money into it, and promote it in their publicity

PM sent Walker.

But for anyone else interested, the book can be found in Tourist Info offices and at most attractions throughout Lanzarote.
Not sure as I don't have my copy to hand but its called the guanches, History of Lanzarote. Very interesting.
