Which is the best of the Papagayo beaches to head for to give naturism a try?

"Caleta de Congrio", - the one closest to the caravan site on the right hand side as you approach.....

I'm back.
I liked Playa del Pozo the best. Park at the restaurant and walk over the hill to the right as you look out to sea. Less than 10 mins walk. Nice sand and better shoreline than Congria I felt.

Right now you may be right. The waves have shifted the sand from south to north in Congrio during the winter. As a result the south part of Congrio is "sandless" and just rocks. I have reasons to believe Congrio is getting back to "normal" right now, - with a long sandy beach all the way down.... Surprisingly few people these days. I wonder why...... Facing east, Congrio is unbeatable for early morning swims.......

And while at it, Playa Famara (northern part of it) is unbeatable for "sunsets". Dangerous swimming though, but on days with little or no wind, - it is absolutely fab. The 5 km long beach is "backed by" plenty of zocos (stone rings) where your privacy may be maintained. And you may drive your car almost into the zoco itself..... But its not Papagayo though........

All the beaches except the ones either side of the cafe are freestyle. Famara is a nice beach, but you normally get sandblasted

I've often wondered where the caravans come from.

I've never seen any on my visits in March and November. I think you can see them on Google Earth. The place is always eerily quiet.

Looking forward checking out all the coves around Papagayo next month. Its been 13 years since we have been there:!: All we can remember is getting the car stuck in the sand. I hear now the roads are much better and there is a charge of 3 euros to enter the park. Sounds like its much more organised since we were there which is good.
There is a very good website of the beaches. Google, nudist beaches info

You can drive down, and the road has been improved, but still pretty bumpy. If you can do it, 30mph is a good speed, you surf over most of the small bumps then. Alternatively, just park at the extreme Eastern end of PB, on the (stil ltarmac) road leading up to the Papagayo Arena hotel. From there, the first beach is about 10 minute walk lon a marked track, and Punta Papagayo is about 35 minutes.

Hmm, You all are putting Papagayo in a positive light, maybe I'll hold back on Famara and give it another try next time.
