I thought you were looking for places to get to lunch from PB....Graciosa is a very long day trip if we did it over a weekend - but the accomodation on the island is v. basic. Not in a bad way - its just v. basic!

Also check the weather conditions - we've had serene flat seas one time and then another when people were chundering over the side! But the beaches on the island are amazing - (no cars on the island except Land rovers who take you all over).

If you have a non fish eater in your party golfo may disappoint! Well I say fish - we normally just pile into the baby squid (puntillas), gambas (prawns) and a big salad.

Casa Pedro is about 50 metres on from the salt place - its painted a slightly paler green than the rest. Does v. nice steak and paella too.

Never eaten at diablo - just thought it was a bit touristy but thats just me!!

Calero is v. nice too!

So thats confused you now! Way too much choice!

I've been recommended the Mexican above the supermarket in Calero, and most peole on various forums say the Indian in Calero is the best on the Island.

For a special meal I would recommend La Casa Roja at Marina Rubicon in Playa Blanca. If you know the restaurants in the Rubicon, it's close to Cafe del Mar and it's a tall dark red building. I love fish, my husband loves meat. I had a fab starter of baby broad beans with parma ham and baby squid followed by cod and my husband had asparagus in blue cheese sauce and meat balls. It has a lovely view as it's right on the water front.
With regard to the salt cellar in the old harbour - I would agree with previous comments - it's prices are a bit up market for where it is - the food is quite good but doesnt get my ultimate accolade of 'yummy' like Casa Roja did!!!

Having lived here for over a year now, we really don't eat out very much unless we have visitors. I probably have a tapa lunche in a sociadad somewhere a couple of times a month after a group walk. Other than that, we usually eat in Le Moka, which, if not adventurous , is always nicely cooked.

Hi Walker - La Moka is close to the villa we rent, so may give it a go - we often have our breakfast close by at the Lighthouse. By the way - a bit further down there is a Spanish run cafe (with red chairs). Have you tried this one?

I am indeed confused now!

I think we will be giving Casa Pedro's a go and we will be doing lunch at Timanfaya - I know it's touristy, but we are, after all, tourists and I have to do it at least once :-)

Only 4 weeks to go :-D

No I haven't, Mary, but there is also now a smart looking Italian there too, again I've not tried that. Last night, eleven of us from our walking group went to a taas bar in Conil. We were the only non Spanish there, and it was enjoyable and cheap!

Stoaty,

You defo need to go for Casa Pedro and agree if it's for a special occassion visit the day before and "reserve" a table...which involves pointing and they seem to commit it to memory....I wasn't convinced but sure enough the next night we got our table.

Superb fresh fish but loads on menu too :D

Hey all

Been back a couple of weeks now :-( and just wanted to say thanks for all the recommendations you made to me.

We did have lunch at 'El Diablo', it was OK...at least we can say we did the tourist thing, but doubt we will go back and do it again...

We had dinner at Casa Pedro and will definately be going back...you were all right, the food was fabulous!

We didn't get to Puerto Calero, but that is a definate must for next time. the pics Zoco posted are still tempting even now!..and although we did go to El Golfo we didn't eat there (remember Mum is a non-fish eater!)

The holiday was great, as I knew it would be, and I can't wait to come back.

BTW, I have just been reading posts about how Lanzarote is expensive...I came back with euro's to change back out of just over 500E and I go self-catering with a child and a car (OK, I know petrol isn't that much there!) so no more expensive than if I was holidaying here in the UK...

Stoaty x
