Hi Everyone,

Not posted on here for a while but always looking!

Myself and my husband are flying out next Friday morning for 4 days to look at properties on the Island. We need to book a hire car to pick up sat morning to explore with. we have tried Plus car and feber with no luck.

We are staying at Atlantis/las lomas in PDC, can anyone recommend a car hire firm we could try?

Hope everyone is well, Lisa x

www.autoreisen.es. Good cars, cheap, no hassle, office in baggage reclaim.

These seem to be offering cars, maybe when you reserve they contact you to say none available?

Maybe phone an office directly?

Added to which, November is about the quietest month for the island so unless they have requested something unusual (automatic perhaps), there should be scores available.

I have used Autoreisen and had loads of hassle.

Cocky manner of guy at Lanz desk/office after 11 hr flight delay. Murder trying to find and then return the car in the underground shed. The guy in returns wasn't too customer friendly either.

Perhaps you were just having an unlucky day - the 11 hour delay seems to indicate that. The "underground shed" is the perfectly standard multi storey car park used by most of the rental companies. From memory, Autoreisen's cars are next to Hertz. The car return signs are pretty clear as you approach the airport, and all bays are marked with the logos of the particular company. If you had difficulty finding the return - the same thing would be true for most of the companies.

we have used cabrera medina 3 times. very easy, laid back service, always got a decent car. plenty of offices around inc airport , pdc etc and we found their prices very good.

Try Holiday Autos we've had some really good deals from them, much cheaper than we could find on the island by booking direct!

Just be careful if you are going to buy a property of which estate agent you use, there is certainly a couple of crooks on the island - I know from a very expensive experience!!
:x

Hi All

Thanks for your replies, we've now sorted one with Cabrera Medina.

I've never had any problem with Autoreisen, used them loads and always had good service. :)

Lots of the clients for our rental villa have used Auto Reisen without problems.

I used to always rent from Cabrera Medina then a couple of times ago i rented online with autoreisen pick up at airport and have to say, it was cheaper than Cabrera, think about E20 cheaper for the whole week. However, we hired from direct car (I think it's called) at the side of Centro commercial in Matagorda. Well they were the cheapest ever, and no wonder, the car was a heap, hahaha. I will go back to AutoReisen next time. Good luck

Auto reused are usually cheapest but they can be very slow with the paperwork and yes there is a bit of a faff picking your car up sometimes - can be frustrating when you just arrive and want to get to your accom but it's usually worth the saving. Ole

I think the "Auto reused" tag is a bit outdated, ole - their cars are as new as anyone else's these days. I think any delay is because they are now so popular, and they don't always have staff on all the 4 available desks.
