Hi Lynn. Papagayo Arena is very popular with people that have kids, as they're well entertained... and there's a choice of pools. It's a little out of town for my personal taste (if I was holidaying rather than living here), but each to their own. It's certainly clean, nicely decorated, and I know some people that refuse to stay anywhere else (those people are there as we speak). I've not stayed there, have only been in during the day - but tomorrow we're meeting up with our pals who are there - so I'll try to find out what the entertainment is like, and the activities. That is if I don't drink too much vino first - sorry!
Marina Rubicon is lovely. Lots of shops, bars and restaurants. Here's their official website

Cymmon is about right with the walk time... and it would be a further 20 or so minutes from there to Playa Dorada... and another 10 minutes or so into the Town Centre. But a cab would only cost about €3 each way.
If you still had the energy - you could carry on along the promenade past the town centre... stop off at the harbour where you get the ferry to Fierteventura... or keep going all the way to the Faro Park Lighthouse. That's a real hike - possibly a similar distance again to what you will have already walked.
