Hi
Does anyone know the price of getting "past the guard" at Papagoyo beach.
Would like to visit, but never paid to get onto a beach before, is this normal for Lanzarote?

I visited Papagayo beach recently, parkjed up at the papagayo arena hotel and walked about half a mile,, no problem getting on the beach, in fact didn't even see any security ?

Paying to use Papagayo ? Never heard of that !

You have had to pay for a few years now - I think it's E3 for non residents and E1 for residents.
Only if you go by car not if you walk over the cliffs.

That explains why I didn't see anyone then Lolly !

Is it free if you drive over the cliffs ?

We have only seen the Papagayo beaches from the Maria Errota, and as they were virtually deserted, they had become a nudist area.

Can't see anyone paying to go down there really. I mean, it's not Italy is it ?

Yes I think you only have to pay if you take a car along the road / path, but maybe you even do if you're on foot except if you're on foot I don't see why you'd walk past the pay-kiosk you'd go another route I'd expect.
Driving over the cliffs is not reccommended ! Except for Lemmings !

Just back from Lanzarote and the cost for cars along the track is €3 for non residents, free for residents. It´s free for anyone walking. There are several baches at Papagayo, only a couple of which, the most inaccessible, are designated nudist ones.

You pay at a little roadblock a couple of miles from the beaches - it is because its a national park. Its only a couple of euros so don't be put off they are the most amazing beaches.

There are 5 or 6 of them, collectively known as the Papagayo beaches - and all have individual names. The best of them in my opinion, and the horseshoe cove shaped one which is on all the postcards is called the "playa papagayo".

Remember there is no shelter at all so if you are going do remember to pack an umbrella for some shade - or go early evening. One of my favourite times is to pop down at around 4 for a couple of hours. THere is a little snack bar but fun to take a picnic.
