Hello,

In the first week of february we are going to Lanzarote. Probably we will stay in Playa Blanca and we are not planning to rent a car.

I would like to ask you is it possible to reach Papagayo beaches (from Playa Blanca) without a car?
I heard that in PB are some water taxis but haven't found any informationts:/

We never hire a car. There is a half hourly bus service that runs from Playa Blanca out towards the beaches. It probably leaves you with half an hour walk depending on which beach you aim for.

Take the town bus to the very end of town near the Papagayo Arena hotel, and follow the footpath. The first beach is about a ten min walk, the furthest about 45 mins

Thanks for informations:)

In this thread I would like to ask you one more thing.

What about weather in the first week of February. What we can expect?
Where is better to sunbath on Playa Dorada or beaches in Papagayo? or during february it's not a good time to do it
I'm a little bit nervous of the wind;)

Feb is one of the most changeable months so it's difficult to predict, other than it won't be colder than about 17C in the day, and 14C at night. It could be very much warmer. Feb is also one of the rainiest months, so it could rain on several days of your holiday, and it might rain all day, although the chances are if it does rain, it'll just be a brief shower. On the other hand, you could have a week of unbroken sunshine and temps in the 20s.

The Flamingo, Town or Dorada beaches are all more sheltered than the first two long beaches generally lumped in with Papagayo which are both wide open, however, the two beaches including Papagayo itseself, either side of the headland with the cafes on are well sheltered by the cliffs (which you have to descend). However, the windy beaches are the shortest distance to walk, whilst Papagayo is the furthest.

As for which beach, if it's a sunny, calm morning, it's worth a shot at Papagayo, but there is no shelter there so if it's a bit iffy, I'd be tempted to use the town or Dorada beaches, then you can easily nip into a bar and console yourself with a drink if it does rain a bit.

This is one of the big beaches on 16 Feb 2011:

You can get all sorts of weather in the winter months. Although it didn't rain it was cloudy for almost the whole of the first two weeks in December just gone.

You can get rain, and we were there in December a few years ago when a tropical storm threw some thunderbolts across Lanz.

Last year in December, most aircraft couldn't land due to low cloud and high winds on one occasion. We got dumped on Fuerteventura, others were taken to GC and even Tenerife as Fuerte airport got crammed with all the Lanz aircraft.

Having said all that you could get some marvellous weather without the 'heat' that can arise in the summer months.
