I'm due to be staying in pb for two weeks next year and would like 2 know what sort nightlife there is. I have heard that Puerto del Carmen is the main resort, how far is it from pb? and also roughly how much would a taxi cost?

PB is not exactly a hot spot for night life but there are a few places which stay open late. The Wax bar being one of them. We had a taxi from PCD to PB during the day, it cost 25 euros and took about 20 minutes. Not sure if they have a different rate in the early hours.

Yes, PDC is a lot busier than PB... but it depends what kind of nightlife you're after. We live here - but rarely go out (much perfer chilling by the pool with lots of vino!) But yes, "Waxbar" is open late... as is "Rooftops". There's quite a bit here... but don't expect Ibiza. PDC will be your best bet if you do.
