Are some areas still fenced off? We were there in November. They fenced off a huge area and we were dreading the noise of a building site but after the initial flurry of fencing activity nothing else happened! Luckily because it was low season there was still plenty of space on the beach.

Fences still there....... Not much activity on the waterfront I'm afraid........ But lots of building activity on the complex itself.....

Last week, the whole beach was still closed. I don't think it will be finished for some weeks to come. However, depending on where you are staying, there are the Natura Beach further West, and the town and Dorada beaches further East, so you won't go short of somewhere to sit and swim. Then of course there are the maginificent Papagayo beaches.

Thanks - a bit disappointing given that we chose the Flamingo Beach Hotel / Resort due to it's proximity to the beach but stuff happens. Thanks for the heads up Walker. Would you happen to know the next nearest beach ?

The Natura beach is 0.8 miles West along the prom say a 15 min walk. It is sand and shingle, with rock pools and lots of fish. It has restaurants and bars. THe town beach the actual Playa Blanca is a mile in the other direction.
Didn't they tell you when you booked about the renovation?

No, we were not informed as we did not book directly with the hotel. Would have hoped that Thomson Holidays may have said something though. Her indoors is not impressed. Thanks so much for your kindness.

What are you looking for? Are you a family with small children, or just a couple? Are you planning to have a car, and how well do you know Lanzarote? I may be able to give you some ideas of where to go. Unless you really just wanted to walk out of your room and straight onto a beach to sit all day (which you won't because you'd get burned after a while), nothing is lost, so tell her indoors not to fret.

This topic seems to come up quite a bit, so I thought I'd post some pictures of the work in progress that I took this morning (7th of May). As you can see, good progress is being made, so we should see all of Playa Blanca's beaches up and running in the not too distant future. In the meantime, I have also posted images of the other two main beaches in Playa Blanca as they were this morning - and don't forget that Papagayo isn't far away either! Hello, I wonder if we could have another update on the state of the beach right now? Have they finished now?
Thanks

No, but the arms are nearly there. Then they'll have to pump the sand in. I'd think it's some weeks away yet

Could be I guess. Mind you, if you are staying in the Flamngo complex, the pools look very good, and if you are not, there is no shortage of other beaches, including ones with rock pools for kids to find shrimps and crabs!
