Hi

Have decided to pop the big question whilst in Lanzarote in a weeks time but haven't been to the island for nearly 25 years!!Can anyone suggest somewhere on the island that is one or all of the following: romantic, unusual, chilled and reasonably private to ask my better half of 9 yrs?????

Any suggestions would be great,

Cheers

Manners

What a fabulous thread! We carried out a quick straw poll here in the office, and here are some options:
1/ The balcony on the Mirador Del Rio overlooking La Graciosa.
2/ Jameos Del Agua at around 1930 any evening (lights are nice, and not many tourists there then)
3/ L'Amura Restaurant in Puerto Calero.
4/ Sunset Cruise on a Catlanza catamaran.
5/ Sunset at Marina Rubicon in the Café Del Mar.
Hope that helps, and we'll all be rooting for you! If you're anywhere near Costa Teguise, please call in for a drink on us!!!

Depends really on what you want the answer to be ???
If it’s ‘NO’ then probably at half time over a pint in Linekers could do the trick, but I kinda think you’re hoping for a YES (ah well, takes all sorts).

More seriously……..
There’s got to be loads of places, depends whether you’d prefer to just be in a particular setting or does it really need to be a restaurant etc ?
For restaurants it’d probably depend which resort you’re staying in although there are some out of town restaurants which may fit the bill (e.g. La Era http://www.la-era.com/fr01.htm in Yaiza or Lagomar http://www.lag-o-mar.com/ in Nazaret). Café La Ola in PDC is quite a good spot as well. Or maybe one of the restaurants by the beach and rocks in El Golfo, or a restaurant by the Puerto Calero marina.

Mirador Del Rio might offer the best setting in terms of views, Femes also has spectacular views over the south of the island. Or maybe strolling through the surf in splendid isolation along the Famara beach with the cliffs in the background ? Or San Gabriel castle in Areciffe (http://www.discoverlanzarote.com/sangabriel.asp) , or Santa Barbara on the top of Guanapay with views over the whole island http://www.lanzarote.com/lugares/guanapay-en.html . Alternatively, up a Volcano or down a cave ?

Best fit for your parameters of “romantic, unusual, chilled and reasonably private” might be Famara beach.

Good luck, Ole
