Looking for s/c accomodation in Playa Blanca & considering the Puerto Chico bungalows. Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of these or know any website reviews please. Are they old/new? well or poorly situated? Any info would be most welcome. Many thanks. :)

Never stayed in them but know the location well. Close to beach, 10 mins walk to harbour and another 10 mins walk to centre of Playa Blanca, all along prom. You will not be dissapointed with location and have heard accommodation is quite good.

A great place to stay. Good accommodation - 20 years old but well kept. Good support staff, very friendly and helpful. They speak English, Spanish and German if required. Club Puerto Chico have a well kept heated swimming pool within its own well maintained gardens. Its just at the right place in Playa Blanca for a lot of reasons. Its five minutes walk to Flamingo beach (for smaller children.) 2 minutes to the nearest shops/supermarket, banks, pubs and night club. Five minutes from Playa Blanca town shopping centre and town beach. Playa Dorado beach, for older children is only 10 minutes walk away. There are a load of activities within a few minutes of Club Puerto Chico. You can catch the ferry to Fuerteventura from the harbour area only a few minutes walk away. Altogether a great place to base yourself.

Thanks to you guys for your replies.
We’ve just arrived back from a week in these apartments but will wait until I get a reply from Name removed upon request before publicly commenting. Anyone about to book a stay at this complex please feel free to contact me – geoff@bramcotehills.co.uk

The Puerto Chico bungalow we rented was badly neglected, layered in dirt and had furniture that I wouldn’t even take to a car boot sale. In the many years of self catering this is the first time we felt the need to make a formal complaint about cleanliness & general health & safety.
The reply from Name removed upon request pointed out that they only act as agents for the owners and bungalow standards vary. Also that we should have completed a 'Verified Complaint Report Form' (whatever one of those is !!) I guess the 45 item list I submitted was not good enough to receive an apology for our spoiled holiday.

On a positive note, the complex is in quite a convenient location and the grounds seem well kept. On this occasion the swimming pool was warm, clean & available.

I have just come back from Playa Blanca and must say I agree with the above. I would avoid staying in Puerto Chico. Firstly we originally booked Playa Flamingo only to be told by Name removed upon request the week before we left that it was not available and we were "upgraded" to Puerto Chico.

started off in apartment right near car park. Loud music from bar across the car park until 4am, no air con meant windows had to be open. And then bin-men at 6am...cockroaches and ants in the apartment...absolutely everywhere. We asked to change and were moved futher in the complex.

The noise reduced but fact is these are very grotty, badly kept and badly cleaned apartments. Ants were still a problem. The sofa was so decrepit and old, it felt quite horrible sittiing on it. The oven didn't work and it took half an hour just to boil some water for some pasta.

We had one change of bed linen in the 2 weeks, and one visit from the cleaner, and it didn't look like he/she cleaned anything. But they were more than happy to loudly sweep our terrace, right outside our window at 8am!!!

The whole complex stinks of sweage also, and the car park contains a shed full of bins and the smell is absolutely awful, I shudder to think the rodents it attracts.

At these prices, considering it was late September, I expect a far higher standard of accomodation. I've stayed in many SC accomodation before over the years, and these were without doubt, the worse I have stayed in. Avoid at all costs and be wary of Name removed upon request.

Upon reading the recent comments about Puerto Chico, I would strongly disagree. I have stayed in this complex several times and have found it both clean and well presented.

The properties have always been of a high standard and should there of been any problems the managing agents were always around to assist.

I have previously used Name removed upon request to book accomodation and can highly recommend using them to visit Lanzarote.

I have stayed there with and without children and find it caters for both. Its a great location for the beach and also for easy reach of the wide range of restaurants in Playa Blanca.

Ok, take 2!! I have just stayed in Chico villas and loved it! It was a great holiday. I was in villa L. Clean and comfy and the family all loved it - have rebooked for next year. Only complaint was weather could have have been 5º warmer.

I agree with Big Jim and Pink Angel. We stayed in bungalow M back in March, it was excellent. Accomodation was good, everything worked except small problem with one shower head, the pool was like a warm bath. Bungalow was clean and furniture in good order, although the beds were a bit hard so we put our sunbed cushions underneath the mattress to soften them up.
Taxi back to airport was organised by the office, you just needed to tell them on the monday before leaving, what time etc.
Ants are a problem but this is just due to being a lot further south than the UK, at least no mozzies. It just means that you do not leave food out, and they do tell you this - buy some ant spray!!
Have already booked for next March.

I don't know where Miguel or nottstourists were but it couldn't have been the Puerto Chico complex that I know. I have been going there for years and have found the complex to be clean well kept and maintained to the highest standard. I normally stay in 'A' which is next to the car park on the higher level and have had minimal noise from either the car park or the nite club.

It seems to me that these 'complaints' registered by Miguel or nottstourists as sour grapes toward Name removed upon request as they did not receive compensation toward their initial expectations. So sad how people can react.

I still stand by my first posting on 27/09/2005 it's a great place to stay and I'm going back again very soon to enjoy all the benefits of the Puerto Chico Complex together with the friendly and helpful staff.

PS. Ants have been in Lanzarote a lot longer than people - stop feeding them and they stay out of the accommodation.
:D

Before committing to my holiday I read some of the comments regarding Puerto Chico, and was slightly concerned. I called the girl at Name removed upon request who was very reasssuring and explained how that all the properties were privately owned, and therefore did vary in standard.
I stayed in Puerto Chico H and was very pleased. The family and I had everything we had hoped for and the views and location are brilliant. The onsite girls at the Reception were all very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. My only grumble was the smell from the watering system, but when I mentioned this, it was switched off. Reviewing some of the negative comments from my fellow travellers, I must admit that having been there myself, I am genuinely surprised.

I have rebooked into Puerto Chico L for next November which has a perfect terrace for a 2 year old to explore.
If you would like any more feedback, please feel free to drop me an email joanjacksonuk@yahoo.co.uk :)
