Just came back from worst week of weather we've ever experienced in PDC. We all had a great time tho', great meals and nights out all week, especially at the Carnaval on Sat night, what an experience, BUT, I must be getting old, as I cannot stand the Centro Atlantico area after 9pm anymore. They are getting really annoying like the arses in Tenerife. One guy would not shut the hell up on Sat night and pestered us so much I nearly decked him, I had to raise my voice for him to scuttle off. So, 118 guy and all you other PR's, I realise the job you are doing but when you are told once that we are not interested, take heed. I'm more than capable of deciding where I want to go, I'll look in the bar, and if I like the atmosphere, I'll go in. I do not need coerced! And as for Ricks.... it was alright in October when the new lad had taken it over, but it's just not the same now, way to many teeny kids in there, it's like an underagers bar, just dance music (fair enough) but none of the old banter and cheek that Gary always gave us. Oh well, Rant over, I still love Lanza all the same and I'll be back, but will cross the road at Centro Atlantico.

Trust me, crossing the road does not work Well, works some times if ya sneak by!!! But if they see ya they will run across. I have given up been polite and just ignore them now. Like you if i want to go to a bar, I will go, dont need to be taken by the hand and brought in

If the place can't get punters in by doing what bars do then it's not worth visiting anyway IMHO.

Was there myself last week and agree the weather was terrible, worst in 20 years apparently, and I am also with you on Centro Atlantico,it is getting worse, put you off heading down that way, It might not be so bad in the summer as the bars are going to be a lot busier, but last week when you looked around some of them were completely empty, and if these touts took you in there, what was the point in staying. As I said in an earlier post it must be against the law what they are doing,as the only peaceful walkby we had was when there was a police prescence there. I understand they get 4 euros for every punter they get into there bar

Hello everyone, i was a pr in pdc last year and i understand where you are coming from with being able to decide if you want to go into a bar but please think of the fact that these people are just trying to earn a wage. I know some of them are unbearable with their ways and dont take no for an answer on first response but not all prs are as bad for hassling as them. some of us will back done if you say no. i think ignoring is just plain RUDE!!!! no thank you i think is better way to approach prs. They are only there to encourage people to go in the bars after all and i dont know anyone that got 4euro a person more like 1euro. i agree its worse when its quiet as more prs than holidaymakers at night when i was last there. my rant over

I go to Puerto Del Carmen every couple of years and was in that area a few nights last year, and I agree with the rant. The PR's are just a nuisance to everyone. Can the police or the local government not do something about it. The lack of PR's is what I feel set Lanzarote apart from other destinations like mainland Spain and Turkey hell-holes. I for one will not recommend Lanzarote for a holiday if I come across that again on my next visit, and I probably won't return after that either. So something should be done or it's lose lose lose all round.

You shouldnt base your experience on visiting Lanzarote on what happens in Atlantico....its sadly a place that gives PDC a bad name...for some......for me Lanzarote is about the friends I have made and the glorious holidays I have had in the past 3 years.....Atlantico is one area of PDC that yes sadly lets the place down but it wont stop me going there in the future.... Dont put lanzarote down based on one area, Lanzarote has so much to offer and personally speaking I wouldnt go anywhere else........

Carmen read the posts on here!!! PR's are giving Centro/Lanza a bad name I have no problem with the PR's outside some of the restaraunts around the island. They offer you a menu, you say No Thank You and thats it Head towards Centro Atlantico with the Sea on your right. PR lads at Ruta 66/ Tropical a No Thanks will do. Once you hit 928 its crazy. You have about 3 at 928, you get by them then you are hit with the next lot as you cross over the road to Centro, get by them then you have the rest until you get past Mulligans and Paradise. NOW, if you think I am rude that is fine with me but there is no way I am going to say No Thanks or what ever to any of them. Best way to deal with them is ignore them. Because once you open your mouth they will walk along with you trying to guess where you are from "Oh, your from Scotland, Ireland, England.......the Moon" Waffle, Waffle And as I said you get real stupid ones that will run across the road to annoy you, just cant take the hint that people cross over to get away from them So Carmen, yes, your right, I am a very rude person

focker i didnt mean to offend you if i have. i meant bluntly ignoring a person in my opinion is rude. i understand that they are a pain and not bein stupid when crossing over road because i know for a fact they are being told do so by the bar owners. i worked for big apple as pr for couple of nights and hated because they were too many prs compared with holidaymakers and got told i had to go up to people who were accross the road. i know people cross over to avoid them ans i also did it when i wanted to walk by in peace. and as someone said there is more to lanzarote than just one little part as centro. old town has still a good vibe to offer for pdc. i would definately never let a bunch of prs in any country put me off going to that place, been to tenerife, greece, cyprus. its worst when a pr thinks it ok to pick u up and take u in the bar and its not always that easy to get away.

Try being a large group on holiday in PDC......that's 100 times worse Obviously they view you as a "filling" the bar when there's more than 10 of you......we've tried crossing the road, unfortunately doesn't work as they do indeed cross over and you can anything up to 8 PR's hassling you all at the same time ! They've even followed us as far as Route 66 It's a sad state of afairs when you have to use all the back roads to avoid Centro, because the hassle factor is too much to bear

Must say I did find them to be more pushy this year, than in the past. After the third day we used to get a Taxi in and get dropped off at the back of Centro Atalantico and go through the back way just to avoid them. This practice must'nt be allowed because as I say the only time their was no pr's was when the police were there.

Just got back from PDC and Centro Atlantico was not my favourite place, we were staying in the old town and wandered down there one night, all the "pr"s put you off they are so annoying im old enough to decide were i want to drink, i dont need to be virtually dragged in a bar. It certainly put us off even going back into the new town at all which is probably a shame because im sure there is some decent bars down there.

We are just home and the pr's threatened to ruin an otherwise fabulous return to Lanzarote. this was our first year staying in PDC as apposed to matagorda ( we stayed at la penita ) There were some fab restaurents we went to which meant we had to walk past centro allbeit on the other side of the road. again hassled like crazy. we were polite and even talked into the big apple which we did want to try. buy one round get one free. the round of a beer and a small jug of fat frog was 25 euro!!!!! wtf???? anyway we live and learn It was a real chore and I spoke to many people, even older folk who had such a hard time from them. We were coming back from a meal one night and this guy sprinted across the road, gave us the usual crud, but wouldnt take no for an answer. He started then on mine and my mates wife and followed us a good 200 yards and started obstructing my wife walking, waving a flyer in her face before I lost the head and he was told quite clearly to take good advise and F'*k off. Ive no problem with pr's at restaurants and bars, as most will accept a no thanks etc, and as some were very sound people we kept promises to visit their establishment, but centro is a nightmare. we were gonna get a cab in one night, but why should we not be able to enjoy the walk. As focker said, if you have to face these idiots, shake your head and say nothing because the minute you speak they are onto you worse.
