A little word of warning to anyone wanting to hire a car - Do NOT use Rocco Car Hire.

We wanted a car for 4 days and as they were one of the few showing their prices including tax and insurance decided to give them a go. We went to their office and asked for a car for 4 days in the Golf/Astra bracket, only to be told that all they had was a Fiat Punto and that it would be difficult to get anything anywhere else due to time of year etc.(mug, I fell for it:().

Anyway, having parted with EUR 140 for the car, expecting a car that may be one or two years old, we got a car with KM 170,000 on the clock, which must have been about 7 or 8 years old. The sunvisor would not stay up, although it drove 'okay' all things considered.

Anyway, after taking the car out for the day, and getting used to it, I talked my wife into keeping it (mug AGAIN:evil:) - that was until we got back to the apartments and tried parking on a hill - the handbrake was non-existent!!!! - well it was there, but didn't work[:(!].

We took the car back the following day and asked for a replacement, whereby they told us not to park on a hill:evil:. I insisted on a new car or a refund, but they said they wouldn't have one until the next day and couldn't give a refund due to us having had the car for a full day, which I accepted.

The next day, we were given another Punto, which was around the same age, but with only KM 130,000 on the clock. Anyway, to cut a long story short, we pottered around in it and took it back on the morning of the last day.

A couple of days from the end of our holiday however, we used Cabrera Medina car hire and have only good things to say about them - a nice Astra Cabriolet for a day (although it was EUR 70 for the day) - great fun to drive, KM 67,000 on the clock, but smart, neat and clean.
