Is it possible to run from PDC along to Papagayo and then onto Playa Blanca along a coast path?

I know theres a path from PDC to Puerto Calero, but was wondering if the path goes any further?

Ta.

Short answer, there is a path, but it is VERY arduous after Puerto Quemada until near Papagayo, and goes a long way inland. I have walked it several times and usually drank 3 litres of water in the process. I wouldn't recommend running it except in the winter months, and then only if you are very fit, and have a fallback plan. From PDC to Quemada, it's a dirt track, with only gentle gradients. The last couple of miles to Punta Papagayo are a rough dirt/volcanic stone path. From Punta Papagayo, it's a mix of volcanic stone and pebble, and long sand beaches until you get to the end of town at the Papagayo Arena hotel, after which it's a concrete block promenade right through PB. It will be far longer than harder than you may think.

Going the other way, it's a good promenade from PDC all the way to Arrecife.

Cheers.

I do a lot of ultra-marathons so the distance and heat are`nt a real problem. Im coming in Nov, so hopefully it would be a cooler, my main concern would be getting lost, is it an obvious path?

Ive ran the path all the way to Arecife, its a good run, however I done the Ironman this year and i`m sick of it!!!!!

Fine, but, mobile phones are very iffy there, and in Nov there are long stretches where you won't meet anyone. The ground is diabolical in places, especially downhill, so you need to plan for what you do if you twist an ankle or worse. To Quemada its very clear, just along the cliff top (and along the upper prom in Calero). From Quemada it is marked, and you'll see the path over the first couple of headlands from the village. After that, you'll have to pick a route on one of the many 4X4 tracks carved into the landscape, until you get past the hills onto the plain, after which the path again runs close to the headland. As for getting lost, keep the sea on your left and you'll get there! When I walk it, I ignotre the paths, and go up and down the watercourses into the barrancos at the seaward end, but that is more climbing than walking.

If you get the Lanzarote Tour and Trail map from Bookswop in PDC (or from Amazon ISBN 9781904946588), it'll give you an idea of most of the route, (and many others around Lanzarote) although I suggest you don't swing as far inland as Femes.

If you want a good interesting rural coastal run along a reasonable track, go from Jameos del Agua to Costa Tequise.

The path from calero to playa quemada (which I do once a week) has a couple of steepish gullies but there's also a track a bit further up the hillside. This is pretty much an even track with one steep incline. I agree with walker after playa quemada things get interesting although I've not gone as far as papagayo. Make sure you have good 'grippy' footwear.
