So, it's really windy in Lanzarote at the moment.

Could anyone recommend a beach that's particularly sheltered from the wind, or a nice cafe/bar to hang out with outside space that's sheltered from the wind?

thanks :)

It seems like an obvious answer, but it depends where the wind is coming from.

It can be windy on the PDC beaches, but ok on the PB beaches, simply because they face different directions.

The bigger commercial beaches do tend to be more exposed. The smaller beaches will usually have socos (little round walls) to lie down in and be out of the wind. Some beaches like this can be found at papagayo, south of El Golfo, and along the north coast. It does mean driving and exploring, but should be well worth the effort.

- and the zocos look like this:

Picture from Caleta de Congrio in the Papagayo area.

Also along the Famara Beach up north there are numerous of these zocos, - you'll also find them in a lot of other places. Sometimes well hidden like on the east side of the beach of Orzola or north of Charco de Palo on the east coast towards Arrieta.....

You'll even find Socos on Matagorda beach. There are quite a few in front of the airport at the beach all the way along to Playa Honda. And there is plenty of rock to make your own. (tho' not as classy as the rainbow striped wind-breakers we all had in the '70's)
