Hi,
Will be arriving in Lanzarote on the 4th july.. Sunday.. in the evening, around 7pm.. and will be driving down to Playa Blanca.
Staying in apartments, self catering, and would like to know if any supermarkets/shops will be open to buy food/drink on a sunday evening???
If anyone can help..please let me know.
thanks

Personally speaking I would say none, I doudt you will be down there much before 9pm unless you arrive early and get your car quick...
Perhaps one of the locals can advise better so you know where to head towards rather then end up driving around.

Well the quickest we've ever got from plane to villa in PB with luggage is an hour, but everything went perfectly.
Realistically if you land at 7pm will be there at 8.30 - or 9 if luggage is delayed queues for hire cars etc.
Yes there will be small supermarkets open in the centre but to be fair you just want to get in change and head out for dinner. Then get an early start shopping on Monday morning!!
If you head out to Ropers there are some nice cafe's for brekky before you start your shop!

It might be that supermarkets in Tias are still open, and you'd be there 30 mins earlier.

If you are going to start looking for somewhere on the way down then I would suggest heading into Carmen and stopping at a Spar etc. I am not even sure the supermarket in Tias is open on a Sunday. We tend to avoid shopping on a Sunday as most places are closed outside the Tourist resorts. Keith

Realistically do you really want to be faffing around Tias or PdC at 8pm on a Sunday night having been on a flight for 4 hours when you probably haven't a clue where you are looking for a supermarket.....
The Spar (marcial) in the middle of PB will be open as will lots of the little ones where you can get some water, oj tea and biccies to get you through till monday morning!

would be a lot easier if you could get someone to arrange a welcome pack. lots of places offer this option.

Can understand why you aren't getting a welcome pack - you could probably shop for several days food for what they cost for a few basics. We arrive on a Thurs, and will be heading to one of the Hiperdinos - according to the website, http://www.hiperdino.es/localizador/, at least one of these should be open till 10pm on Sunday. These are the cheapest supermarkets to go to. We've been told however there are plenty of minimarkets open late, though how late they stay open on a Sunday is the question. Maybe try asking who you've booked the apartment with what there is nearby? We're going to a villa and they've already given us some decent info.

While we're on the subject, can anyone give some directions to Ropers heading from the main Hiperdino - or perhaps can you let me know the name of the street it's on so I can Google it? I've tried to figure it out from different descriptions I've read but can't quite pin it down. Any help welcome!!!

Hi, The Supermarket in the Marina stays open until 10pm. For Ropers just go to Las Coloradas Shopping Centre, you can't miss it. Happy days, roll on November when we are back Mo

For Ropers, head out of town from the roundabout just up from the town beach, past the turn to the Marina Rubicon, and keep going until you are getting to the end of town, where you will see Ropers signposted. THe shop istself not visible as you approach, because the entrance is in a little square inside the shopping precinct, but there is a big sign you will see.

the hipo dino in the village of playa blanca is open until 10 on Domingo's (sun) probably the best bet. But do your main shop in the bigger one with the underground car park, only open until 3 on Sun (and the car park is closed on Sunday) better prices and free parking if you spend over 6 euros.

thanks for all the replies...
we are staying in a villa... just off of calle inglaterra... so we do not have any option of a welcome pack anyway, there is no reception etc
guess wil head into playa blanca then and find a small shop, just for breakfast for kids, aged 1 and 2...
we were thinking of maybe coming off the LZ-2 and going to the Hiperdino in Tias on route???
