Last night, for hubby's birthday, we wanted to go to the Indian Tandoor House, which is always excellent - and our first choice. However, because they are having a refurb in the next few days, they were closing early. Gutted!!! So we decided to go to Spices, having had a nice meal there a few weeks back with friends.

The service was sloppy last night - and as for the food... well, it was appalling. Alan had chicken jalfrezi - which he said was by no means a jalfrezi - just a curry like sauce and a few chillies. I had chicken dansak... which tasted like the chicken had been boiled, and there was no other consistency to it. I couldn't eat much of mine - although Alan finished all of his (he was hungry). When he went to complain... the Spanish staff were rolling their eyes as if to say "Oh dear... not ANOTHER complaint". The chap that he'd complained to just stood there with his mouth open.

In the meantime... another table arrived... and I said that I hoped their meal was better than ours. They too had tried to go to the Indian Tandoor House.

Maybe it was because it was quite late... but whatever the reason... the food was shi*e... the service was dire... and we received no apology.

We will NOT be going back.

Elle xx

Elle,
we went in the Indian tandoori house at about 9-30 pm on 11th june 08 which was the last night of our 2 weeks in PB, the food was gorgeous as it was on the other 3 times of our holiday, This time I had chicken puri to start and then chicken pasanda and Angie had the veggie kebabs and then chicken Korma we also had rice and nan bread, the food was as I said gorgeous and the service was fast and friendly, pity we did not see you as we would have liked to thank you for recomending the tandoori house as we went in spices last november and was really disappointed with the bland/cold food.

Glad you enjoyed it Steve. We should have got there a bit earlier, I know.

Did you enjoy Playa Blanca again?

Elle,
Yeah we had a really good time thanks, prob the most restfull holiday we have had since we got married 27 years ago, we had no kids or family with us so we did what we liked when we liked without making arrangements as we always do when with other people, the apartments were spot on again, we did not have a bad meal or drink anywhere, The one small let down was the wax bar, Phil was missing and the bar seems to be just an internet cafe now very very quiet, I did ask one of the barmen where phil was but he told me it had been quiet for a while, which was not what I asked and maybe he miss heard me. the old mill was packed on the occcasions we went as was Mollies bar, Galeria had quite a few in, but the bars at limones were dead when we went to the In plaice for fish and chips and then the thursday night curry, I have to say the Indian tandoori is as good as any curry house on manchesters curry mile and there are some really good ones there.

Thanks Again

Steve

Hi Steve

I'm now helping people to come over here and open their own bar or restaurant! Shame I didn't know you were coming out as I could have bought you a beer rather than given you one! Glad you had a good time whilst you were here - Mark and Helen have a much later trade than me and are currently changing the food menu and so the days have definitely been quieter at Wax then when my rowdy crowd were down but if you head down late at night it is still bulging at the seams (never too hard at Wax with it being small).
Drop me a PM next time you are coming out and I'd love to meet you for a beer or a curry (definitely at Indian Tandoor House!!!) next time!

Phil
