We did the submarine safari, and enjoyed it thouroughly. It's a once in a lifetime experience but well worth the effort.

<font size="3"><font face="Comic Sans MS">We also did the submarine safari and loved it. I didn't think it was overly expensive.
That said, if you are ecologically minded, there is a flip side. In order for you to see more fish they get scuba divers to dive and feed the fish. It looks great, but it does mean that man is interferring, to a degree, with the natural environment. It means that the fish associate man with food and alters their natural behaviour. It may not sound like a big deal, but it depends on how you feel about these things. Some people have strong views on this and others don't.
If you go I am sure you will enjoy it.

Just back from Lanzarote and I have to say this was the most disappointing part of our whole holiday. We paid €52 per person for the excursion. We were collected at 9.15am in Playa Blanca and got to Peurta Colero at 10.15 where we were all sat down in the office for 5 minutes to be told our safety meeting would take place at 10.45.
After this video presentation we were led to the submarine. We were on the submarine for approx 45 mins. During this time the submarine dives for about 30 mins. The submarine goes along the outside of the port wall turns around and returns using the same route. When we boarded we were told that people sitting on on side of the sub will see everything first and on the way back people seated on the opposite side will see the same.
Once out of the sub we had to wait for a further hour to be collected by the bus. I am presuming there is some deal with all the premises in the marina. I spent a full five hours of my day to see some fish for half of the time I was in the sub ie. 15 minutes.
I have been on plenty of sun holidays and can safely say this is by far the worst 'day trip' I have ever been on. My advise would be to skip it!! Go on a glass bottom boat you will see more.

There's a chap in Playa Blanca with a stall in the Port area, who runs a boat, with a submarine type set up. You sit in seating area, which is in hull, so you are underwater. He goes out of the harbour and you see wonderful fish. It's much cheaper than the official submarine, but great for children and adults like me!!!!!
