I got all concerned then... because our Seamermate isn't normally "off" with people lol. But al's clear now!

Anyway Barjiash. You're pretty close to the beach from there - just a 7 or 8 minute walk, dependant on where you are on the complex. Oodles of restaurants and bars to try! Look out for Brisa Marina and Tipico Canario on the seafront - as they're both excellent. Mamma Rossa is great for lunch too. L'arista is also very, VERY good!
One of our favourites in La Bocaina, which is by the petrol station as you enter Playa Blanca - you'll see it on the right as you arrive.

If you're looking for a good friendly bar, then get to the seafront.. turn left, and head for Playa Dorada Beach. There's a commercial centre there with a few bars, and restaurants in. We go to the Wax bar a lot (here's his website http://www.waxbars.com). If you go to his website, there's info on how to get a discount voucher for the length of your holiday. Highly recommended!
In the same centre, you also have a great little snorkelling company there if you fancy it http://www.snorkellingdelights.com Ask for Tracey, and tell her Elle sent you.
Upstairs from these two is "Made in Italy" which lots of people rave about. haven't been there ourselves yet - but we've certainly not heard anything but excellent reports so far.
Have a great time - and say hi to Seamermate from me and "The Alan"
Saludos... Elle

Hi

Nearly everywhere you go you will find great staff and food. I would recommend you try L'Artista, Tipico Canario and pop down to the Marina and try Lani's Snack Bar. All great and kids more than welcome. Children are not expected to be quiet, so you won't have any problems at night with your little girl. The waiters quite often sit and play with the children, so don't be alarmed!
Hope you have a good hol
Tracey

Name dropper Ash..."I've been snorkelling in the Dominican"...but you'll be hard pressed to match that 500llb Marlin

Although Lani's is child friendly both the food and service is mediocre at best...better off at the Italian round the corner or Casa Rioja (you've been there with us Ash)...I'll find the names and post later...

As for the Town Centre try La Terricita for Tapas, L'Arratista you know about...wish I was there with you late September for the slap up posh Paella...happy times...

recommend Aphrodite for pasta / La Giraldi fish / La Commendatore fish or meat at the Rubicon Marina

I'll be interested to know if Casa Rioja is open again...was always very good...but shut last year...

Just back from 2 wks in Playa Blanca and had a great holiday. Stayed at Sun Beach Apts and I have to say that they were one of the best that I have ever stayed in. I highly recommend them.
