Hi

My old man went to Popeyes, near Fred Olsen ferry port to see footy and ate a Sunday roast there. It was nice he said, but not overwhelming. That's all the info I can tell you, as I try to avoid English food on holiday. Hope you have a great time.

Hi,

La Bocaina is a great place for Sunday Roasts, they are situated just down from the petrol station in Playa Blanca, check out their reviews on www.canarynightlife.net

Everything is freshly made - well recommended.

Sal x

I believe the Sunday roast at Jaspars is excellent - but no use to Mark because he's off to PB.

No food at Spenders I'm afraid.

I'm here Mick!

Hi Mark. I haven't tried one of Derek's roasts down at Popeye's yet - so I can't comment. The Inn Plaice though... a couple of bars to the left is excellent - but you do usually have to book during the day. If you follow the link that Sal posted (cheers hon... and good to see you popping up on a couple of forums too!) - you'll find Maria's telephone number in there.

Also... as Sal said - La Bocaina is excellent. We go there when we fancy something really special. Great food, great lounge area. The chef Paul changes the menu regularly - so there's always something new to try. La Bocaina is on the right hand side, just past the petrol station as you enter Playa Blanca from Yaiza.

Don't worry about things to do whilst you're here either Mark. There's plenties. Cracking new Marina with its own market on Weds & Suns. The shopping centre is open up there too. There's a bowling alley upstairs in there. The Buccaneer in there is closed at the moment, but is being re-opened soon by pals of ours. The seafront has bars and restaurants dotted most of the way along, with little commercial centres too. Depends what you're after really - but PB has lots to offer.

Enjoy!

Elle xx

PS: Jase - I'm nice love... but not THAT nice!

Hi Mark,

Avoid Popeye's like the plague is my advice to you unless it's changed hands since November.
The staff were rude, ignorant, lazy and lacking even basic hygiene standards on my 2 visits there.
I was left waiting at the bar while they chatted with their cronies and when they did come to serve it was like they were doing 'you' a favour.
When the barmaid served me (and others) she was coughing and spluttering all over the beers without once putting her hand to her mouth. Also both the man and woman's clothes looked like they could do with a good wash!
I dread to think of how the food was prepared ugh.....
Maybe Elle or somebody can correct me if I am wrong? The couple I am referring too didn't own the place and they weren't young either.

Now just inside from there (as Elle says) is the Inn Plaice and while I can't vouch for the Sunday roast I can certainly vouch for the rest of the menu and also the very warm welcome we received.
Here is their website.

Sunday Roast has to be a belly-buster with the family around the dining room table with everyone having double of their own fave bits, in the winter with the rain pelting the window in the howling wind followed by a lazy evening on the settee. Just not the same for me Al Fresco in the sun !
