Hi folks, Wondering is there any decent, handy supermarket on route from the airport heading north ? Need to buy gluten free grub so the larger the supermarket the better. First proper visit to Lanza, will have a hire car heading to Punta Mujeres. Thanks

You come out of the airport heading north on the LZ2 dual carriageway. The next exit up allows to to go to Hiperdino in Deiland on the same side, or to Hiperdino on the other side of the LZ2, which you reach by coming off, straight across the first roundabout, then under the LZ2 at the next, doubling back to go south for about 500 metres. You'll see that one on your left soon after you get on the LZ2 at the airport. See here http://www.hiperdino.es/localizador/ and go to the Lanzarote list, they are the last two, both down as San Bartolome - Playa Honda. Clcik on them, and a map pops up.

Whilst on the subject of supermarkets We are staying in a villa near Los Pocillos, we plan to do one "big" shop & use the Spar on Calle Italia for odds & sods. We wont have a car so would get a taxi. Which one is closest......airport ? And roughly how much € ? Will we be able to get a taxi back ok after the shopping expedition ? Thx

Get the bus towards Arrecife and get off at 2nd stop after airport (Deiland). Big Spar inside there, good prices, taxi rank outside. Looking at €12 for the trip back and help from driver to load and unload will increase the price. (Tip etc...... )

cymmon, I don't know of a Spar in Deiland. Are you sure you don't mean the Hiperdino I replied about above?

There is a large EuroSpar at the back of Deiland. It's after the cafe and behind where they have the stage.

Great thanks for that So it's definitely a Hiperdino then ? I take it we get the bus opposite Los Poc beach ? If we ask for Deiland will the bus driver know where to drop us off ? How much is the bus ? there's 3 of us going to shop for 8 so it may well work out cheaper to get a taxi both ways ?

Well it was a Hiperdino last time I was there a few weeks back, and the Hiperdino website says it is, as does the Deiland one. THe taxi driver will certainly know, and I'd have thought for 3 of you it would be cheaper, not to mention you wouldn't have to lug shopping for 8 from the bus stop!

Perfecto.............that's where we'll head. Never intended bussing it back But with 3 a taxi will probably be same price as bus so might as well do it both ways Thx

Yep, I stand corrected, my head was in the shopping centre near to the old bus station in Arrecife. It is indeed Hiperdino in Deiland.

I don't think it will be a huge amount more than the fare for three people (they planned to come back by taxi anyway), and since they are doing the shopping for 8, it will be a small part of the whole bill. It will also save them walking to the bus stop.
