Not sure why you don't want to hire a car as its a dream to drive on the island!! Though is you can't drive or are to young to hire one I spose might be a prob! Whether you are on an organised trip or go independently you all get herded onto the coaches which drive around the lava fields. Think I saw trips advertised for about 30E which I thought bit steep when you can hire a car for 100E!! Why not just google timanfaya couch tours and see what turns up.... http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q= ... arch&meta=

There is an agent near the roundabout in the centre of PB, I can't remember what they're called, might be Luton travel. They sell all the excusrsions the reps do, but cheaper. There are usually loads of leaflets going about too.
But, as has been said, why not hire a car?
We're picking up one at the airport and returning it when we fly out meaning we also save on taxis to and from PB. It's costing us 165 euros for the fortnight.

Does anyone know if the coach trips get to push in at the front of queues ?
Never been on one but I'm fairly sure that you can get a better deal from an independent tour company (Lutons & Lastminute are the 2 that come to mind) than you're holiday tour company (First Choice). Leaflets are widely available from hotel receptions or as Robert says there's plenty of leafletting around, often left on walls by the side of the street.
Car hire is much better, gives you so much freedom and better value for money that organised tours, but doesn't suit everyone. Alternatively Cy can arrange a personalised bespoke trip for you and can even change it as you go on if you want to stay longer or shorter when you get to any particular place.

Never seen huge queues at Timanfeya - nothing worth worrying over. Need to watch out in the carpark though a coaches reversing all over the place! Seen some very scary near misses!

I've never NOT seen hugh queues at Timanfaya, must be going at the wrong time. Mind you I haven't been up there for a few years now - in fact although I've been along the road I've never actually been into the central bit, just driven past - or twice turned back because of the queues.
