Could anyone tell me the trading laws in lanzarote as far as trading doing cycle hire and tours from a van.
As opposed to a shop unit.
Would this be legal?
Or who would i get the relevant information from?
Or does anyone have a unit to rent at a reasonable price?
Thankyou in advance for any help. Kevin

You can do both - other people here already do, and a premises isn't essential. In order to trade legally you will need all the correct licences for each business activity. To get those you need to talk to a lawyer or an asesoria.

Thanks mike.We are looking for a long term rental (1 bed or studio) in Playa Blanca area as well.
Do these always have agents fees extra?

If you go through an agent, there will always be a fee (either up front or added to the monthly rental). But you can secure some properties directly through the owner and avoid the fee. Just ensure that the property is as described, that you have a proper legal contract (in Spanish) and that the owner has someone on island who can help with any issues with the property that may crop up. Finally, there was scam running here a couple of years ago, someone was offering fictitious property for rent and taking deposits via Western Union transfers. So make sure the person is legit before organising any money.

To do Tours, you would need a transport license and form an SE company. This would need to be backed up by €600,000 in bank cash. You would also need Liability insurance for your passengers etc.
Can be expensive and time consuming.
Other options are available but not cheap.

Cymmon are you sure you don't mean an SA company (Sociedad Anonima)? If so I think you mean €60,000 in capital.
Also are you sure you need to be an SA to do island tours? Most of the coach companies are SL's needing €3000 capital and one vehicle will cover that.

Sorry, yes, one too many 0¨s.
Would be good if people were allowed the SL version. €3000 is acceptable but unfortunately you need the transport license, this is the BIG problem.
• Minimum share capital:
S.A. and partnerships limited by shares: e60,102.
S.L.: e3,006.
General partnerships and branches: no legal minimum.
It is the bank guarantee that is another problem.

I think he meant cycle tours Cy if you re-read.... Which if I'm right I guess might mean a different thing from a transport licence point of view.

Thanks all.
Nearly frightened me to death.L.O.L. 60.000
Yes. It would be cycle tours, cycle hire and eventually cycling holidays.
We would require a static unit eventually to get more established.
Lanzarote is cycling heaven so please keep your fingers crossed for me.
Thanks Mike and everyone else.
Hope to see you all soon.
All forumers obviously will get a discount........Kevin

You can also set up as a sole trader, much cheaper.
