Sorry, don't know about Tropicana, but not surprised to hear that Thomas Cook did that to you. They took a booking from us in December 2007 for a holiday in April 2008 that had day flights each way. Three weeks before we went, they changed the return time from 12.30 to 21.30 and would not discount the flight, even though we know that day flights cost more
We then had a seven hour delay flying out from Gatwick, (got the princely sum of £7.00 in vouchers) and three hours on the flight back. Whilst stuck at Arrecife airport, I got chatting to one of the reps. He told me that the reason the return flight time was changed, was that as it was on the 1st May, summer flight had schedules kicked in, and that meant night flights. So in other words, Thomas Cook had no intention of ever flying us back in the daytime.
I have written to them, but besides the automated response stating that they'll get back to me in 48 hours I've heard nothing, and don't expect to.
I'll never use them again!!
