- and that's being served by whom ?

Don't think I've ever seen it on a menu in Lanzarote.

Not that it matters much, - I probably wouldn't have touched it anyway.......

Just read through a few "recetas"......

:D

Limpets (lapas) are no more unusual than mussels. Just another shell fish. I don't mind them but prefer a plate of puntillas - fried baby squid.

If you want to try something really unusual try one of the all day breakfasts on sale for approx 2E in CT and PDC. Guaranteed to have some pretty unusual and non natural ingredients!!!

Hello
If i've followed the thread correctly, black pudding / scrambled eggs and pinenuts (and a few other things) are a tapas dish served in the bodega I think.. Sean had something very similar in there are christmas.

apologies if I've got mistaken..

Why is that Mackem? Which is more unusual for lanzarote - local shellfish or frozen sausages with a meat content of 10% processed pork skin and pink colouring?!

No wind up - just get annoyed when people forget that its a spanish island.
I'm not surprised there are very few blackburn shirts out there considering we have no fans!

I don't normally post, but I was amazed that there was no mention of Tollos or Pota - or any other dried seafood for that matter.
Tollos are dried Ray - definitely an acquired taste, and one that I have never acquired - but if you like the idea of chewing on ammonia-flavoured leather, then it might be for you. You can even get it in Roper's or Hiperdino.
Pota is dried Cuttlefish, then there are various other sun-dried fish, some which are actually very nice (the ones that you used to see drying outsider in Orzola were particularly nice). Fresh Parrot fish, Moray Eel or Barracuda are also worth a mention.

There are also some safe bets like Mousse de Gofio as a dessert and many goats cheeses (some with Gofio as well).

Yes they import dried giant squid from South America (pota). Tollos is dried shark ( well actually dogfish) but you would usually rehydrate it in a recipe as it´s really chewy.

Parrot fish is I think vieja and is very nice simply grilled with a little salt.

The other one is Dorada - aka sea bream in the UK. Much cheaper than in UK. Try cooking it wrapped in salt.
