Hi,hoping someone has stayed at Villa Julia 4! If you have, please can you let me know if the sun is actually on the terrace and for how long? Just returned from Lanzarote and had a look at this villa (already booked to stay in November) and due to some very creative photos didn't realise there was a very large wall directly in front of the terrace! Be great is someone can let me know and put my mind at rest! Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

hi there,we too have booked to stay at julia 4 in puerto del carmen next year and hadnt noticed the wall until i read your message.we stayed in playa blanca this june and that villa had a tall wall which only helped to create a suntrap,so fingers crossed this will do the same.would it be rude for me to ask who you booked the villa with,i booked it with owners direct and was wondering if the pics of the wall you saw are on there. i have looked for reviews on this villa but unfortunately there doesnt seem to be any posted on any site, could you possibly let me know what the villa is like when you holiday there later in the year and where it actually is in puerto del carmen.sorry i cant help with your query. enjoy your holiday

Hi, when we looked round the villa last month, there is a row of villas that run along the top of the wall in front of the villa which I'm really concerned will block the sun. The wall is as high as the second floor of the villa and the terrace is very narrow. Apart from this - which is an issue for me - the villa does look nice. There is wasteland on the other side. We booked with owners direct who have told me the sun was on the terrace all day. My worry is that companies do just tell you what you want to hear! Hopefully not. Will let you know after our visit in November - just have to keep my fingers crossed it's ok.

If you have it in writing that the sun is there all day, and you can prove afterwards that it's not, then you would be in a good position to argue for a refund. Obviously, if it spoiled your holiday that would be a problem. On the other hand, I expect you won't want to spend all day in the sun, because it can get a bit frazzling, even in November.

We stayed in Villa Julia 4 September 02nd-September09th, when we first arrived we found it a rather strange looking place but the position is very good, they tell you it's a 10 minute walk to the old town but it's only 5. Anyway when we first walked in the Villa I personally was dissapointed, it was not as nice as it looked on the internet but then I suppose it never is, it's actually quite a reasonable Villa to stay in. The 3 bedrooms are fine except one of the downstairs one is located next to the front door and if you left the window open during the night someone could just climb through so we had to keep it shut and use the fans which were broken so we had to ring the agent and get them around, the actual beds and bedding were clean and comfortable and both bathrooms upstairs and downstairs are nice, upstairs you have an ensuite and a sun terrace which is lovley on an evening, you get it all day until it goes down, the swimming pool was dirty when we arrived, again we had to get them round but they never turned up, this was really dissapointing as we didnt use it, it made my mind up although the Villa is ok I wouldnt go there again, I can never understand why these people that rent out Villas seem incapable of getting the basics right, it's all you expect and ask for. Overall as the week went on we got used to the place and slept well on a night as it was quiet, you do get the sun and the position is great, forget about having a barbeque as it is the most pathetic piddly little thing ive ever seen and the terrace tables and chairs could do with replacing, the sunloungers are not great. For anyone going this is a total truthful account of how it is, it's a reasonably nice Villa in itself that could be made better with some care and tlc from whoever is supposed to be looking after them, my advice is before you go, demand that everything is right, the pool clean, the fans work, a proper barbeque etc etc and you will have a good holiday

Hi, thanks for your honest review on villa Julia - pleased to hear about the sun on the terrace! Hopefully it will be just as good in November when we go. Did it worry you that the villa is right next to the wasteland? we are a bit concerned about security.I notice the sunbeds are the white plastic ones - are there cushions to use as they really are the most uncomfortable to lie on! After seeing the villa, if we hadn't paid in full I think I might have cancelled it as it really is creative photography with this one!
Couldn't agree more with you about the villa hire - we go to Lanzarote regularly and unfortunately many of the villas we hire either haven't been cleaned properly or the pool is dirty. Its just the little things but when you've saved hard and really look forward to your time away - its just not good enough. For us, we make sure we never hire from that company again.

Hi Jeff, I know what you are saying about the wasteland, at first I thought we might be a sitting duck target for burglars but actually if anything I think the opposite is true because the terrain of the wasteland is quite difficult to access so i would imagine it's unlikely anyone would use it as an access or escape route and we had no probs at all. As I said my advice to you is contact the booking company and demand that the pool is cleaned prior to your arrival and that they provide a decent barbeque if you want to use one and also tell themt to buy some new sunloungers and terrace tables and chairs because they were very dilapidated and old, i find it incredible that these people charge 500 pound a week and cant even see the little things that make a holiday and get it right, it's not rocket science is it but as I said before yes it is not half as nice as they make it look but overall it is reasonable with the beds being comfy and the bathrooms are nice too, kitchen ok and position to the old town is good so take the plus points and enjoy it
