Hi, we are heading out on thursday to spend our first christmas in lanzarote. Normally going in summer we know what to pack for that time of year, and although the forcasts are saying around 20/22 degrees at the minute, i seen people on youtube at the recent car rally,in the sun, wearing big coats and scarves!! Are the days shorts n t-shirts etc with only the nights being chilly, or is it chilly during the day at the minute. we are confused. dont want to pack a load of stuff we wont need.
Any advice would be gratefull.
thanks 8)

Hi,we went for a week at the beginning of December and found the daytime temperature good enough for sunbathing(the sun seemed to lose its heat at about 4.00 pm) but there were people walking around in fleeces, jumpers and waterproof coats? so it's quite hard to give a definitive answer, but for the first time ever it was to cold for me to wear shorts of an evening which was a shame as I only had 2 pairs of trousers/jeans but loads of shorts.

They are probably natives, who like to wear leather and scarves if it drops below 20. As an ex-pat resident, I find it warm enough for T shirt and shorts in the day. I was fine on top of a 2000 ft mountain today It's about 21 to 23 until the sun starts to go down around 1730. During the night, the temp drops to about 16 or 18. In the sun, it feels hotter than that, in the wind, with no sun, cooler.

At night, it depends if you are in a house or hotel or bar. Hotels will be warm, but houses can be a bit cool. I'm sitting in my living room at the moment (1830) in jeans and T shirt, but will put a long sleeved top on later. Last New Year at midnight, most ladies on the prom for the fireworks had cardies on, but one or two had bare arms.

The sea is warm enough for most people, and the beaches will be busy. Wear factor 20 plus or you WILL burn even if it is cloudy

Thanks, that helps. 20+ degrees is a very good summers day in the uk! Not too worried that the jeans will be on of an evening. we usually go first week in sept, and this year was very hot, so maybe a few degrees cooler in the day will be nice. Just wish there was a reliable weather site. some show wall to wall sunshine, and some showing a fair bit of rain. dont know what to believe :?
