Hiya all

going to Lanzorote next wk, staying in sol lanzorote in Matagorda. I was told by travel agent its 10 min walk into PDC and the hotel is first class, well Ive checked out hotel and there seems to be nothing but complaints on the usual websites reference nasty staff, there seems to be room break ins every day!!! Also was talking to someone just back from Matagorda and they insist its 40 min walk although that doesnt bother me so much as its easy to get a taxi.

Id appreciate any information on both town and hotel.

p.s does it get cold in the evening? would I need jacket/cardi

To the centre of PDC it will be a 30-40 min walk. At the moment forget about taxis as there are heavy roadworks so you would have to walk at least 15mins to try and get a taxi as they are being detoured around on the circunvalacion and coming into PDC from Rancho Texas. A €3 taxi reide would then cost about €6or 7.

Bring a cardi for the nights it is better to be safe than sorry, because not eveeryone feels the cold as you know.

It certainly is a 40 min walk but a very pleasant walk having said that.
We used to walk up into PDC at night but then get a taxi back for about 3E, the bus service is also quite good but I believe there are roadworks at the moment so this may not be the case.
I have stopped at the Sol a couple of years ago and I also had read bad reviews but it was fine. There were some complaints about the evening entertainment but we eat out every night so I can't comment.
The hotel is situated right on the front about 10 mtrs from the beach so you can't fault that and there is a small commercial centre 2 mins along the front with a couple of shops some bars and restaurants.
All in all we found the area to be great and wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

I always pack a light jacket/cardi because it can get a bit nippy at nights.

On a lighter note be careful of rogue cyclists outside on the seafront.

Keith.

Yes well warned Keith and be extra careful now as he rides the damn thing at night, then ties it to a post outside the bar and has a few ciders....He then pushes the thing home

Except Newcastle goals????

The bus is stopping outside the Sol Lanzarote. Opposite side from the buildings for PdC and building side for Arrecife/Costa Teguise. €1 to PdC.
