Hi everyone - just joined and noticed a few negative postings so thought I would balance things out! We've been to Playa Blanca about nine times and always stay on Faro Park which is great as it's close to the sea (not the beach), has a nice range of local shops and cafes and is only 10 mins drive from the old harbour and Marina Rubicon. We go in March and September so it's not extremely busy and the weather is nice and warm rather than very hot. PB has something for everyone - whether you want up market or more affordable. We find the airport and car hire efficient and the road system is very good if you are thinking of hiring a car. We enjoy exhausting holidays - reading by the pool, walking to the sea and going out for meals twice a day!!! In a nut shell we just find it incredibly relaxing. We only booked it the first time because it was an affordable winter sun holiday and actually didnt expect to enjoy it at all - how wrong can you be?! So dont' be put off by 'Lanzagrotty' - even if it does exist it must be well hidden as we've never seen it!

Keep it to yourself Marymouse, we don't want everyone to know, especially the March and Sept bit, that's when we go:wink:

There are two main areas of Playa Blanca - the old harbour area which has a wide range of shops and cafes and you can also get the ferry to Fuenterventura or book excursions and boat trips - behind this you have the equivalent of the High Street in Playa Blanca with gift shops, supermarkets etc. The other area is Marina Rubicon which is newer and a bit more up market - it has an open market on set days (but I cant remember which days they area - sure somebody else will though). There is a great selection of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops - it's a lovely area to meander round.
I think PB has something for everyone.
Hope you enjoy your first visit!

Some one mentioned market days in Marina, there are Sunday and Wednesdays from memory - worth a walk along, usually busy.

We are back over in March too...can't wait !

Cafe del Mar's sign is in such cursive script, I always read it as Cafe del Moan!

Great idea, but it would be even better for that other forum's AGM!

No chance - they would complain at the beer prices...

Although I do prefer the place next door to CDM.

They'd also slag it off because it is in PB, not CT!
