Yes, a strange one all around that one !! You’re lot are obviously not happy, the blue lot around here a bit bewildered and the red lot a bit disappointed, has the man no principles ??? I’ve tried but I just can’t really wish him good luck, I hope it’s a disaster actually but if it is he’ll be first to know, he’s got some winning over to do first !
BTW Foodie, you may be mourning for lot longer than 40 days !
Ole

really? Blues are well shot of Sven - he would have shafted them anyway a la Rovers, Lazio, England, various wives and girlfriends... the was always on the lookout for a better offer.
Personally Hughes was a surprise and a revelation Sufficient medals and european exposure for respect from wide range of players, superb training techniques and obviously fantastic contacts.
City will do well - very well. He's a league ahead of the Curbishleys, Coppells etc.
He didn't go looking to leave - and everyone is open to offers - think he did it pretty discreetly and quickly. No hard feelings from the rovers fans.

Well City fans in a daze here. Sven wasn’t exactly a disaster at City, or England actually and won Serie A after all. He does however seem to be an avid collector of significantly large pay-offs to ‘do one’, and he’s certainly ‘done’ a few in his time – incredibly actually. Next Rovers manager maybe ?? Ole

Yeah but come on Ole look behind the Sven PR - he did the very minimum that was expected with an amazing Lazio squad and unlimited funds, ditto Sampdoria, ditto England with the "golden generation" - couple of 1/4 finals..?! Seems to have an unpleasant habit of leaving a club in far worse state than when he joined it!
And Sven's post xmas form was shocking - rivalled Derbys!
Re. Rovers - I don't have a problem with Allardyce - proven to do great things on a shoestring - and we have a better squad than Bolton. Heard some rumour that Advocaat would be interested which would be amazing.
Souness and Strachan are just chancers in my opinion - I could win the league at Celtic!

I’m not a Sven fan myself, but his record is somewhat better than Foodie is portraying (18 trophys !, 3 X ¼ finals with England – and nothing worse), and far better than that of any City manager during that time. In some ways I take my hat off to the City owner for not settling for anything second best, but at the same time you’ve got to be realistic, 9th at first attempt was decent. They got a lot of rubs in the first half of the season and not in the second, all evened out but set unreasonably high expectations in the meanwhile. As my City friend says, whenever they get a chance to shoot themselves in the foot, they seldom miss ! Big Sam – did a great job at Bolton, spent limited funds brilliantly. Ole

Ole England should have persevered with Sven and maybe so should City...

Zab and Ole - England and city could have persevered with Sven - but he would have been off when he got another offer!
How many times was he caught out looking for other jobs when he was at England?! Ditto city.
