Hi, we are going the same time and i will echo the last post, get yourself into The Highlander, i will be there on this night and many others, look for a very bold young man making a fool of himself. The owners name is Called Ronny & Shaz, really nice helpfull people. Only a very small place but by heck they try to keep you entertained, but dont expect anything classy, this is a very down to earth bar. I would highly recomend the Italian resturante, you will walk past it before you go down the ramp.
Re new year 90% of anything that is going on will be going on down the STRIP, along the beach, massive firework display, dont expect any reall celabrations christmas eve, they do celebrate but very religiously, which if your in the old town next to the old church you will see. They actually celabrate around the 6th 7th not sure, the 3 wise men on camels very uplifting. If this is your 1st time away at Christmas dont expect all the mayhem you see here in the UK.

HI,

Where is the old church in the old town? I can't picture it.

We too will be there on the same dates, I can't wait to go back.
Thanks

Come out of La Lonja on the seafront. The church is up the pedestrian streeton the left hand side.

Yes it's great seeing all the local kids coming out for the various parades in each town trying to catch the sweets being thrown. Think of it like Xmas Eve in the UK...which always was the most exciting night of the year as a kid for me.

As far as i know there is fireworks, there was last year, we are only round the corner from the highlander also, might see you there. Look for a bold good looking chap making a fool of himself and if you shout Paul i will buy you a beer. And your right about Flanagans, good laugh there, and free entry, you are talking about the drag place arent you ?

flanagans has shut down for good due to the recession.
for the first time this year there is a xmas eve procession along the avenida with horses instead of camels and sweets for the kids. the PROPER 3 kings is indeed still on jan5 evening and is highly recommended
walking down from balcon del mar the purple turtle is a popular choice or further down saints and sinners is a decent cheap irish bar but there are loads to choose from.
