The original request was for info on " xmas in Lanza," but very little in the way of answers on the subject in hand. I too would like some answers on this one. We are regular visitors to the island (just back in fact) and are considering spending Christmas there this year. What i dont know is how busy it is usually at that time, if its advisable to book meals, particularly for Christmas
day and Boxing Day. Do all the bars and places of entertainment stay open. Basically any information would be appreciated.

Hey Tomo,
its not packed and you dont have to book but if you want a certain place and table in a place you might want to pop in the day before.
Everything is open and as I said its not at all like home, no real hype.
Suits me :D :D

Running up to Christmas is so laid back..............

If you want a particular restaurant, better to go and check.
Some bars/restaurants have a set time for Christmas dinner and some will also ask for a deposit, unless you are a holidaymaker that has visited a number of times.

I had a few Christmas dinners at the Mucky duck II in Pocillos, HIGHLY recommended, Fantastic food, ambience and staff. Book it a few days before and seems to be two "sittings". Well worth it.

I hope that others will also give their recommendations for other venue´s.

You will definately enjoy Christmas over there, it is so relaxed and none of the STRESS!!!!!!!!!! of the Uk version.

Ah, one other question please, Has anyone ever experienced lots of rain in Lanza over Christmas and New Year? I was reading about the temperature and keep finding notes telling me that although it's fairly warm (19c ish) you can expect heavy rain.

Thanks
Jayne

Jayne,

I wouldn't say lots of rain, but yes there has been times when it absolutely throws it down, unfortunatley we do get rain here and cannot control the weather.

As has been said the plus side is you can have a great Christmas and New Year here.

I just looked back through my photos of the last 5 Christmases in Lanzarote, and can see only see rain in 2008 - but that's not a guarantee for this year. Last Christmas was very pleasant. It is more likely to rain in February.

Agree with Walker. 2008/2009 New year was pretty rainy. I caught the damned cold. Every other year since I started going in 2006 has been lovely.

Jayne,

Although not strictly Christmas, I have been sat on the beach (in shorts) for the last two 01 January's.

Sun not as strong at New Year, and you dont get as many hours of light as you would in the summer. But its certainly pleasant, warm, and probably hotter than the regular Mancunian summer I'm used to!

Thank you all for the information, much appreciated.

I know it gets annoying when holiday makers expect 100% sunshine and complain about the first cloud that comes over, I didn't mean to come across like that, I've just never been in winter and was curious really. :-)

Thanks
