I'm an undergraduate, studying Geography at the University of Nottingham and I'm currently researching my dissertation, which is about tourism and the culture in Puerto del Carmen.

Could anyone and everyone please take a moment to answer these questions? It will help me form a better picture of those travelling to Puerto del Carmen and would be a great help!

These questions are aimed at tourists, rather than expats living in Puerto del Carmen; however if you are living there and wouldn't mind sharing some of your experiences and answering some more in depth questions, please let me know in the comments or message me as that would also be very useful to my dissertation.

Equally if you would like to know more about the research I'm carrying out or have any questions then feel free to ask!

1. What's your nationality?
2. Who do you travel with? (Family, Friends, Partner etc.)
3. How long do you stay for?
4. Where do you stay? (In a hotel, villa, apartment etc.)
5. How many times have you been to Lanzarote?
6. Why do you choose to come to Lanzarote?
7. What do you do when in Lanzarote? (Sightsee, sunbathe, shop etc.)
8. Do you speak any Spanish?
9. Do you go to restaurants, cook for yourself or eat in a hotel?
10. If you go to restaurants, which cuisine do you pick? (Spanish, Italian, Chinese etc.)
11. Do you prefer to spend time in the Old or New Town?
12. What were your expectations of Lanzarote? Did it meet them?
13. Do you visit other towns outside of Puerto del Carmen?

Many thanks in advance!

You might also ask if people have visited any of the many tourist spots on the island, including the natural ones such as Timanfaya, and the ones built by Cesar Manrique. I suspect quite a few people never leave PdC. You might also ask if they are staying all inclusive, which is quite an issue here, as it takes business away from all the bars and restaurants. Finally, to increase the responses, you might look at posting this on one or more of the severalLanzarote - themed facebook pages/groups.

Good luck with the work Emily.

Great suggestion above from John re asking in some of the Facebook groups too.

I've designed a few surveys over the years, and the one nugget I'd be so bold to offer is to reduce the no. of questions you have. I realise you'll get less info that way, but you'll probably also get more responses. No one likes to be burdened when completing a survey, least of all people who are away from work on their holidays :D
