Hi all,
Me and my wife are visiting Lanzarote 2/2/13- 11/2/13 and are looking to rent a apartment, we haven't ever been to Puerto del Carmen but from reading on here and asking friends I think we are looking more at the old town.

I just wondered if anybody on here has any recommendations?

Thank you.

Stayed in Plaza Azul apartments for New Year, they are not in old town but on a side road (calle anzuela) half way up the strip. Old town is ten to fifteen minute walk. Strip five minutes away. Some nice bars on the road for a few drinks before heading out. Apartments were lovely, including nice roof terrace. They are basic but nice.
Have also stayed in Aqua Marina apartments in old town near harbour, great base for exploring round old town. I've stayed elsewhere as Ive been several times, if you give a little more info on what you are looking for I'll try to help.

Don't stay at the Gregorio apts which is in the old town. It's rarely advertised these days but one to stay well clear of. It's on Calle Botobara opposite the Tomate restaurant and a mosque.

We've stayed in the old town 3 times. Once all inclusive at Los Fiscos, (good value for money but apartments aren't great), and twice self catering, at La Flora, (nice apartment overlooking the pool in the main complex) and somewhere else which has changed names to something I can't remember. We've also stayed 4 times in various apartments off the main strip which we prefer because it's easy enough to get to the harbour and old town but not so much of a hike. When we were last there in November the old town was looking very sad with lots of bars/restuarants closed which is a shame.
The Lago Verde apartments which were featured on 'Place in the Winter Sun' this week looked nice. Most are privately owned and is in the old town very close to La Flora. It depends what you are looking for really. If you're self catering there is loads of choice and the best thing is to go on Trip Advisor and try and get the highest starred best accommodation for your budget. Of course everyone has different tastes and opinions. We personally haven't found anywhere yet that we would like to return to though whether this is because we are on a tight budget or not I don't know. We love Puerto del Carmen though so will keep trying until we get lucky. Hope you find somewhere nice.

Hi toffeelady, yep that's me :D

Thanks all for your recommendations, from your comments maybe we need to look more towards the strip. Totally new to Puerto del Carmen, looking for a nice 1 bed SC apartment, private rents seem to offer better accomadtion, don't want a load of noise but not a hike away from everything, nice chilled out winter break 8)
Do t want much do I !!!!!! Ha ha

Thanks again.

To be honest, not sure how you are with walking but the Bitacora was in a nice location and lovely staff, our bed was crap but apparantley they have better rooms/beds but apart from the bed i would recommend it, a ten minute walk from the beach/strip or 2.50 eurf taxi but a nice friendly clean place

Bitacora are good they are a 5 - 10 minute walk from old town and 5 minute walk to main beach so ideally suited. Have english tv that you dont have to pay extra for as well and kettle, toaster etc.
