Hi,
I ran a quick search here and found mostly decent reviews of this Real Estate Company (apart from the Lomo Verde saga), but after watching the scam programme on BBC last week, it is evident that one can't be too careful when planning to buy property on the island.
I have exchanged a few emails with Russell Bernstein from the company and I must say that it has been a case of so far, so good. He seems very competent and well informed.
Can anybody with knowledge/experience chime in with a review of Atlantico Homes?
Thanks very much in advance,

I don't know the agent, so can't comment. I don't think you are any more likely to encounter a scammer here than anywhere else, the programme was about a particular man, not a place. However, the agent should just be the person who introduces you to the property. Wherever you buy, never give the agent money, only give it to the vendor, or to a solicitor, and choose your own lawyer - not one recommended by the agent or vendor. There are plenty around, Gorka, and Lanzarote Lawyers (who did our conveyancing 8 years ago, but I believe are a bit overstretched at the moment)are two of the best known.

Good advice. Thanks,

I bought my villa through Atlantico Homes and found them to be very professional and supportive. In particular Russell who arranged everything and Stephanie and Maxine who sorted out the legal stuff. Russell will help you through the whole procedure and can arrange quotes from builders and other professionals. In my case he sent me pictures of work being done so I could see every stage of refurbishing. Good luck !

When we purchased three years ago, we were offered the services of local lawyers but we chose to use a Spanish lawyer working in London ! He was half the price of local lawyers and was very proficient. Our thinking behind this was that if the purchase "went wobbly" we could sue him under UK law. He was fantastic and checked everything out for us, he even opened our Spanish bank account and obtained our NIE certificates without us being on the Island !! We also had quotes for preparing a Spanish will ( 1500 euros was for both of us was about average !! ) we ended up paying 360 euro for both. Do your homework first.

I would recommend Lanzarote investments...very profesional and not pushy like some other agents...always use a lawyer and never hand over cash to the agents, only your lawyer! John Killeen who we bought our villa from was very helpful, I recommend him any day of the week. :P
