Greetings to all,
Its been over a year since I last visited the forum and nearly 4 years since I visited the Island... I have missed both and since living in Vietnam and in the South East Asia region in general where access to so many beautiful Islands are on my doorstep... I still have fond memories of Lanzarote and miss the island very much... so can someone on this forum give me an update on how things are there now and has it changed much in 4 years?

Well, tourism is booming - more because of problems in North Africa than any changes on the island.
There is extreme pressure on renters as property owners let their properties to tourists via AirBnB etc. It's so bad that workers simply cannot afford to live in the main resorts anymore.

Where in Vietnam are you? I spent 3 months travelling through Vietnam 4 years ago - I have some great memories of the food, but it could be challenging at times!

Glitterball,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my message, I live in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) yes its a wonderful country and great food and beautiful places to see, unfortunately though here in Saigon its become a building site just like Dubai was 15 years ago... lots of international companies moving in and lots of investment.

The biggest import at the moment is English teachers they can't get enough due to the demand of young and middle aged Vietnamese wanting to learn English so they can get jobs with the big corporates and high end hotels and resorts... I am not a teacher by the way...but if anyone wants to have a few years here or even a gap year then its a good way to see Vietnam by teaching!

Anyway I'm a bit off topic but Good to hear that Lanzarote is booming again, looking forward to visiting the Island next year... are the entertainers flooding back... I remember back in 2000-2003 when there were some good acts on the island and the bars were busy... good days!!! :D
