It's much much worse than UK. Unless you have a unique skill forget it. The island is awash with Spanish speaking people experienced in the service/tourist industry, as it applies here, who can't get a job. The only think that Lanz has got over the UK is climate. I love it, but don't need to work.

Unemployment in Spain is over 30%........on the Canaries it is over 35%......little or no work available here I am afraid.......unless you have a unique skill or trade ......and don´t expect to be able to work ´´cash-in-hand´´as a recent clampdown on illegal Jobs and workers by the Government has meant these jobs have almost ceased to exist------by all means try it ....but have at least 6 months to a years worth of money behind you to fall back on should you not find anything.......without it you will seriously struggle !!! Good luck...you will need it
