Im in need of information about renting in Lanzarote.
Is there a recommended resort/town to rent in in the first instance? I have visited the island on a number of occasions and love the main resorts and the town of Tias looks a good base as far as i can see.
Im looking to invest in property, is there a recommended estate agent?
I know none of them are regulated so i dont want to leave anything to chance!! Are there many voluntary jobs on the island within the expat community?

Re: renting in Lanzarote......at the moment there is a shortage of long-term rental properties here....due to a surfeit of people who (now the recession is over) all suddenly want to live here (until the next recession when like the last one thousands will flee back to their country of origin as rhey cannot hack it in a ´´foreign´´environment)
As regards Tias...probably a good choice if you want to live in the biggest British ex-pat ´´community´´ on the island....not my ´´cup of tea´´ but same for the main resorts...big on ex-pats ,,,,great if you want loads of Brit/Irish bars etc but a lousy choice if you want to experience a Spanish life-style
Estate agent s here are a bit ´´come and go´´´.....more opening up once again now recession is ´´over´´´....many many closed during that period too :( :( ,,,so basically ´´you pays yer money ...you takes yer choice !¨¨
Voluntary jobs ....mainly centred around the cat and dog rescue scene ( very ´´British`` that one.. as the Spanish do not dote over animals the way the Brits do...lol)....apart from that very little :)
No doubt people will comment on the ´´negativity´´or ´´cynicism´´ of this post......but lived here 10 years and still here ...so commenting from experience and not through ´´rose -tinted specs´´
