Hi everyone Can any one advise me what a good self contained hi tech keyboard vocalist entertainer would expect to get paid in the bars, or a self contained karaoke dj that works hard on the audience particapation would expect to earn per night, and is there plenty of venues looking for resident or one nighters in del carmen , I really want to come out there to gig regards paul keyes

Paul, from what has been posted previously I think you will find that there are too many musicians chasing too few bookings here. Perhaps you should come for a week or so to Puerto del Carmen, where the market is biggest, to see for yourself. I think you would have to have something quite out of the ordinary to succeed.

I dunno.

Most of the 'acts' in Lanz and elsewhere in the Canaries are dire.

How many Elvis's are there ? There used to be loads of them.

Originality would win through.

I mean come on................a few years back they used to advertise a singing dog in Corralejo, Fuerte. And this went on for many a year.

The dog is now in doggie heaven.

The dog wasn't very good at all.

All the good gigs, the 80-100 Euro ones, are already taken. You might get a call to do one of these at the last minute every now and then. You might even get a few regular 80-100 Euro ones...

But for the most part, when you're starting off, you'll be lucky to get three or four 40-50 Euro gigs a week. If you can survive on this, and you build a decent reputation, you can move up the ladder over time.
